No really, that's what she said. (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/02/15/awesome-kid-gets-detentio_n_462837.html)

The joke's been done to death, but when it comes out of the mouth of a middle schooler and he gets detention for it, we can't help but applaud. Sure detention sucks, but it was totally worth it. Well done, Dalton, well done.

I mean, she was probably talking about a pencil sharpener or something, but yeah, she said it. Also, can you really blame the guy? It takes a quick wit to be able to invoke that time-honored innuendo when the appropriate situation arises.

So yeah, has anyone else gotten in trouble over their turns of a phrase?

Look, all I'm saying is that when you say "Love is an exploding cigar that we're all willing to smoke," you don't get upset and stop talking to someone for a month when he says "I got yer exploding cigar right here."

These are the rules. We have them for a reason.

The kid's was to "report to stage by B lunch and stay until end of B lunch"?

What the hell, did they punish him by making him do bad stand-up routines?

Nah, some schools just have a stage in their cafeteria, and detention is sitting on the edge of it till lunch ends. I've been in three schools that did that, so I'm pretty sure it's a common practice >.>

Also, SOOOOOOO tempted to send an angry email to the teacher about this detention "stifling the creative process of a middle school student during an awkward phase of their life, where social interactions help them understand their place in the world" or some shit like that.

Do they ever have situations where students say "you need to push it in further" as a non-innocent comment

Do they ever have situations where students say "you need to push it in further" as a non-innocent commentYes, those situations happened a lot in the prop-bed behind the stage in the auditorium of my old High School if rumors and shameless self assertions were to be believed.

You know, I think I've used one or two "That's what she said"s on the teacher. But then again, I'm not in middle school. I guess all the teachers there hate their kids.

Wait "b" lunch? Do kids these days have so many bloody lunch breaks we need to alphabetise them?

Tev

No, they just stagger them to fit more kids in one place. In Jr. High we had A,B, and C lunch. The letter just denoted whether you had a fifteen minute Short Study period before, after, or in the middle of your lunch period. It kept the lines in the lunchroom from getting out of hand.

That sounds stupid.
We had about 5000 kids at my high school and 2 lunchrooms neither of which was bigger than 5 metre square and never had a problem. Let nature take its course and the kids short it out.

More the young kids- who are also short. Also the ugly kids.

Unless the ugly kids were also very large, then they got head of line privileges.

Nah, because by the last year of high school where you weren't forced to attend anymore our bullying had weeded out the ugly and fat kids so the oldest kids were all handsome and sleek but also a gang, unified by years of collective experience, who controlled the school and the lunchlines.
It did help that we had free periods throughout the day so we could get lunch before lunchtime or if we felt like being dicks just go make lines in front of the lunch room before anybody else got out for lunch.

Fat ugly people had no chance against a gang of hardened, wizened old hands.

I refuse to believe your fanciful stories of youth. There is always a giant, angry ugly kid in every lunch line. Nobody messes with him because he can literally toss you several meters across the room into a trash can which has it's lid conveniently open.

Until "I know kung-fu" kid shows up and puts an end to his tyranny with many well placed knees to the face.

We don't have fatties, we send them all to the US where they fit in.

Dammit Smarty, here I had this image of a benevolent wisecracker who had stories of significance and dignity (and drunkenness and a whole lot of other adjectives). I liked this image. You've just violated that and shown me that you're exactly the kind of prick I despise.

And I still fucking like you, God, what is wrong with me...

At my school they just let the seniors go off campus for lunch, and that pretty much took care of the lunch line problems, as almost no seniors stuck around for lunch when they could go out and eat at restaurants or at home or whatever.

Talking about short people then seeing someone squint to see one? Somehow I was amused.

It is.

There is literally no way to explain Kitty's personality that can make it funny. You just have to see the movie for her to take (in)human form.

EDIT: It goes beyond that clip, Jagos. You just gotta see it.
