Now that the temporarium has fully dissolved into the ether, let us never mention it again. For it is now an "un-forum"

It's good to have my screen-name back.

And it'll take a while to get used to the new layout and the ugly buttons.

The... The what now?

Does anyone have any clue what the fuck a "temporarium" is supposed to be?

It's like mist. I can't remember anything, it's all a blur. Pain, loss, awkwardness. Maybe it's the Turtle helping us forget what we don't need to know.

Right, but that didn't seem like the kind of thing that would vanish into the ether.

It's funny because I'm not sure how I knew that's what a temporarium was...

But it wasn't a dream. It was a place. And you and you and you...and you were there. But you couldn't have been could you? No, Shiney, this was a real truly live place and I remember some of it wasn't very nice, but most of it was boring--but just the same all I kept saying to everybody was "I want to go home," and they sent me home! Doesn't anybody believe me? But anyway, we're home! Home. And this is my room, and you're all here and I'm not going to leave here ever, ever again. Because I love you all. And... Oh Shiney! There's no place like home!

Yeah, no, there was moonshine. Pale and bright deep under the ground. Shining like something dead. Lights.

The Turtle was in there I think. Does that make sense to anyone?

Ah, it's actually kinda nice having the info back over on the side. Everything feels neater, more condensed.

Maybe we can get bigger avatars? Eh? Eh? No? Awww.

Hey shiney, you did a <expletive> job getting the forums back up!
All the others involved can replace the expletive with fantastic. And shiney with their name.

Is it just me or does the signature area seem huge?

A Zarkin' Frood
04-17-2010, 03:47 PM
It's because the user info is now on the left of the post instead of above it.
So there's a minimum size for your posts (including the sig)
So yeah, if you only write one or two lines the sig space is really huge.

I personally preferred having the info above each post, but having it on the side seems to be more popular.

It's all those icons. They're inflating the user info space like what.

Gonna look into it as soon as I can, but give it a day or two before we've worked something out.

Mike McC
04-17-2010, 03:54 PM
Well, it probably takes up as much space, or slightly less space overall (for one or two line posts). Instead of having a mostly empty area above your posts, it's now below them. It's all those icons. They're inflating the user info space like what.

Gonna look into it as soon as I can, but give it a day or two before we've worked something out.You could probably take out the Join Date, the IM icons, Location, and the Post Count, as all of those things are easily accessible on the profile pages.

Unless people want to keep location around as a second Custom User Title.

"See the TURTLE of enormous girth!
On his shell he holds the earth.
His thought is slow but always kind;
He holds us all within his mind.
On his back all vows are made;
He sees the truth but mayn't aid.
He loves the land and loves the sea,
And even loves a child like me."

I am highly suspicious of this new bizarro layout. It feels.. Unnnateral somehow...

I don't like it. Who do I have to kill to set things right? Also the "reload this page" button is a red x. Do we need to list this as a bug somewhere or what?

It's a good thing a week without the forum didn't drive any of us to concoct an elaborate fantasy forum wherein we impersonated other members and acted normally while secretly PMing love-letters to ourselves from Fenris.

Mike McC
04-17-2010, 08:13 PM
All these people going "I don't like it" reminds me when we started using our own vBulletin back in 2003. Because everyone was aying the same thing about the poster info being above the posts.

And in, like, a week noone really noticed it anymore.

BitVyper
04-17-2010, 08:16 PM
Yeah, but poster info is supposed to be above the posts. It's in the Bible. One of the reasons Sodom got blown up.

Seriously though, I don't really care.

At least I'm no longer BitVyper, apparently!

Uh. Well, feels right, feels a bit different, yet I feel like I am back in some sort of dirt filled, potty place that...umm...you put...seeds in and they grow creepy wooden tentacles in... umm...something green and crap.

Bah! I have no time for horticultural analogies I do not understand! There is only one thing I understand, and it is FIRE! And to herald the forum's return, I shall bring it in copious and possibly dangerous amounts!

Besides, considering the number of my peers and local internet intelligence ratio, it will at least fool somebody.

The sandwiches are made, and now we can have lunch!

Also, I like how the fact that Warbot is below 8BT is either indicative of its update schedule, or can be interpreted as Warbot's life being below that of a "dead" comic.

to me its more like the transporters in Star Trek. They copied the old one and put it somewhere else. But ultimately they just glossed over the sad fact the original was killed in the process and this is just a new one carrying on the originals life as if nothing happened
