I figured since we had a thread for our handles again, it might be about time for another round of avatar explanations.


Normally, my avatar is some form of myself in sprite form, with whatever background stuff means something to me at the time. This has deviated only three times now, twice with sprites of my other characters.

Just a leaping sprite of Toshi with a crappy attempt at anime-style speed lines in the background. The reason for this is that a mysterious user named synkr0nized on a forum that never was threatened to give everyone furry avatars if the necessary power was ripped from the hands of the very admins acquired. I mistook this for "let's all have fun and get furry avatars before this place evaporates into the aether" and decided to show off the sprite, which I'd spent a lot of time doing, but had never been able to use for anything.

It's half of a cookie given to me by fifthfiend. This made me so happy, I couldn't even handle all the happiness. So I decided to share it and gave half of it to CABAL.

Usually my avatars are Berserk themed, sometimes I have Godhead Pickle Inspector or Rick Dagless, I used that in that place we're not allowed to speak about because it never existed.
But I still use that half cookie because it's still good. What other user can claim he has a half avatar? Right, only one besides me.

Currently the Ocelot unit is something I particularly like because in the Metal Gear paintchat I go to/kind of sort of help moderate (I kick trolls) I'm occasionally greeted with "MAaaajor~ <3" which makes me laugh.

I'm thinking I need something different though...

At present (the dude with the helmet), mine is the mini that I've been using in the D&D campaign my friend is running. It is meant to represent my character, DREADSTRIFE THE BARBARIAN. He's also a fighter but mostly a BARBARIAN. It's the first Reaper mini I ever got and painted and I was happy with it and I love taking pictures so hey why not, mini pics!

I think he looks sufficiently intimidating.

Also, my user title is something he said when told to halt by a city guard.

Mine is Pokemon Crystal's Scizor sprite, and Crystal was the first to introduce animations for Pokemon just appearing on the battle screen. This was repeated in Pokemon Emerald, and became standard when Diamond and Pearl hit the scene. Diamond and Pearl's little brother Platinum introduced animated back sprites, so that you don't feel left out with all the cool stuff going on on your opponents side of the screen.

Enough with the history lesson, I was given this avatar (and several other candidates) by Viridis himself, and I chose the animated one because duh, animated gifs are better than static images. Regarding the previous Scizor avatar I had, Viridis said, and I quote:

Your avatar is an ugly, ugly jpeg. The compressions burns me.

Edit: I was going to edit the spelling and grammar, but then it wouldn't be an exact quote :P

Edit AGAIN: I'm going through an Iron Man phase, as I'm stoked for the May 7 theatrical release of Iron Man 2. Did this thing up not too long ago, and I love how it turned out. I know, I know, there's no chestpiece, but I didn't feel like messing with the sprite outside of recoloring it. I also would've used the png version (which is cleaner, but vBulletin does not liek png).

Also, my avatar comes from an insane homocidal fanatic who sold his soul to the (or rather one of the) devil(s) trapped inside a rock for a little more power and theoretical "immortality" only to be so thoroughly taken by the fiend that his own personality was completely subsumed to the point he murdered his only son, attempted to do the same to his daughter, and killed himself (uselessly, as it turned out) in order to provide enough blood to turn an innocent girl into a world-devouring demon (temporarily sexy-looking, mostly an undead monstrosity - she got better). And, you know, it matches my user title. What? "Eye-row-knee?" Huh? Yeah, I guess my shirt is wrinkled...

Thanks! I think there actually is a way to do a tilde (at least my highschool Spanish teacher thought so), but I've no idea what that is. Nonetheless, Spanish is generally much easier to spell than English when you hear it, as the former spells out every sound, while with the latter we just make up half the crap we write. Keep in mind, this is because our original language was so gutteral and unpleasant that a preppy countess decided to make it sound more like her refined but arrogant acquaintences across the channel after both countries had successfully invaded eachother several times.
