I like 8-Bit theater. Funny comic consistently. Are there going to be more of them? New comics being posted with new storylines? Anyone else want more of this comic? I may have missed a news post... Are there going to be more is the whole series over?

On the main page Brian said there would be an epilog. After that it's over and we get to see him do new things. Lots of new and cool things.

Brian is working on the finale.
After the finale, which should be released in a few weeks, that will be it.

Unfortunately it's over. I had hoped he'd have started into new territory after this like a new sprite comic with another game, but he has this weird wish to make money...

HIKYM.

Not a sprite, and not game based, but free all the same.

And pretty good so far.

This is just one more topic in a sea of identical topics for me to further express my want to see Black Mage get into the bonezone with White Mage. Graphically. In uncomfortable detail.

I could so bring a poorly written excerpt out of a totally real story back up.
But people still hate me enough for when I wrote it.

Let's just say that White Mage bones Black Mage and leave it at that.

I don't want any more 8 Bit Theater story.

I am one of those clamoring for a neat epilogue, but that's all. The storyline has run its course and it's time for its preordained retirement.

... there was no screaming, but somebody did write something like that. Kirby2000.
And I hate myself for bringing it up. And quite possibly be hated on, by the rest of the forums (or at least Meister).

Also, can we stop talking about two sprites having sex?
I totally think this is not the forums for that. At all.

EDIT: Also, if you really want that, you could always make it yourself. Far away from where we can see it.

Maybe we'll get super-lucky and someone won't make a ninth identical topic about the same exact thing and I won't have to imitate the "so does BM get laid???" people anymore.

Is it over? Do fans want more? (Multi-page thread 1 2 )
So you guys want more 8-bit content? (Multi-page thread 1 2 )
Loose end? (Multi-page thread 1 2 )
Things we would like to see in an epilogue? (Multi-page thread 1 2 3 4 5 )
The Ultimate Fate of the Characters (Multi-page thread 1 2 )
THE END? (Multi-page thread 1 2 3 4 5 )
Moved: so, that's it, huh?
So is 8 bit really over? (Multi-page thread 1 2 3 4 5 ... Last Page)

Yes, that's annoying, indeed.
However, I personally would take that over the xth nigh identical post about you wanting to see two separate batches of pixels getting it on.

Savvy?

No, you're thinking of a different, but equally terrible Kirby2000 fanfic that was more or less unrelated to 8BT.

You know, now I'm half expecting to see a picture of a log, with the word "Epi" carved into it.

Or maybe, if you wanted to be more subtle, an epee saber, made out of a log.

...it?s time for FF II sprite comic!

Nah, I wish that, but this looks like the end.

Bad for me, I dont like the other stuff from Brian :( It?s so unfair that his best (for me) work it?s unable to hit the market...

I'm thinking about commissioning a friend to do a full FF1 comic using pretty spot-on 8bt personalities, full pdf/jpegs up of course. Just a thought right now.

But tbh there is enough raw fanpower behind this to keep it going for a long long time without a word from Brian-- it just needs him to set it up so the system is automatic and task-force run.

Ok, I have to say first that (although this is more related to another thread) all these complaints about the ending confuse me. Because I don't know how you end a story which is all about the journey and not about the ending. 8bit was basically a sitcom loosely driven by a loose parody (and when I say loose, I mean like size 60 pants on an anorexic) of FF1. But it was mostly a sitcom, in many ways. And so I don't think a 'satisfying' ending (of the sort that you get in, say, Le Comte De Monte Cristo where the count has a drastic change of heart but also destroys the lives of his enemies) is something that happens in this kind of artwork. The best you can get is some crazy references and bizarre twists. Which is what we got.
Now, I am disappointed of course that the story's over. This has been a staple for me since my freshman year of college (around the time the comic started, actually) and it is a little weird having it end. That said I don't want to see any more unless Brian wants to make more (if he does, I am all for it, if he has a direction to take it now). Creators of comics (or other art) are usually best able to see when it is time to bring something full circle and when there are still open possibilities.
Therefore, I would support whatever he chose to do. Although at this point I think an epilogue and then finishing, or even just finishing, would be best (though we know there will be an epilogue).

EDIT: While there might be enough fanpower to keep an FF1 Sprite going, I think without Brian it would lose something. Better to just start fresh with a new concept.

Also perhaps the epilog will be all the 8bit cast on a log. Since 'epi' means 'on'?

EDIT2: Ah, Brian (like me) uses the proper spelling, 'epilogue.' So I guess 'on the log' is out.

Americans generally use 'epilog,' I think, whereas those from the UK and Ireland use 'epilogue.' I myself prefer the latter though I am from the former. And I have no idea what Australia or South Africa does although I expect they follow Britain. Presumably Canada does too.

mad2physicist

The stupid appearance of epilog notwithstanding, it is part of a general tendency in Americanized English to drop the extra 'u's and such, e.g. 'color' vs. 'colour' and whatnot. 'Epilogue' of course is the correct spelling.
For some reason I had thought Brian used the Americanized version which is why I started talking about the 'on log.'

From Webster's:
Etymology: Middle English epiloge, from Middle French epilogue, from Latin epilogus, from Greek epilogos, from epilegein to say in addition, from epi- + legein to say

BTW, "Epilog" is the German spelling of the word, rather than a plain old mistake (I hope nobody mentioned that yet). So the "missspeller" is probably not dumb, just German... or Austrian... or Swiss....

Also, on the topic of bad 8 bit fanfiction, I distincly remember seeing a WMxBM lemon on here some time ago... a rather disgusting one--

I didn't realize that it was also German. I knew that it was not a misspelling though. I just thought it was the Americanized version. When I said 'epilogue' was 'correct' I just meant that that's the proper British way to spell it. Since I generally follow British spellings I consider that the 'correct' one despite my geographical location.
