I'm trying to find out the identity of this mysterious man.

Apparently it is not the unholy love child of Doc Brown and George Carlin like I thought he was.

Do you have a source page?
Anything we can grab some context from?

What did he do? Scientist, preacher, author, artist? Nothing?

Nothing, my friend put it as his facebook profile picture, then I commented on how it looked like Doc Brown, and then he bet me 50 cents I didn't know who it was.

He's right of course, but I'm too proud to admit it.

I'd say the man is a corpse now, but that may not be a satisfactory answer.

Do you have a dead line to find out ?Perhaps you can Google his description? Or perhaps give us an inkling on your firend's interests? Is he into scientist or artist or what not? Something that may serve as a vital clue in this most important of cases?

This was his previous facebook status picture. It appears to be a wizard of some sort casting a spell. Or if you're not illiterate like me it says on the bottom, "Hugo Ball reciting a sound poem in the Cabaret Voltaire"

Yeah, he's kinda arty.

Theodor Mommsen.
My fee is 25%

Alternative answer: A grade A dickhead cause fuck Mommensen was a dick. Anyone using his picture is a dick by association.

Hey Mr. Wizard, guess what 25% of nothing is!

Also, this thread is now about all of us putting our heads together to solve shit like this, so if you've got a particular mystery that's got you stumped, let's hear it.

PS No philosophical bullshit or just being a smartass or wondering why girls don't like you. Girls don't like you because you're ugly and hang out on the internets all day. CASE CLOSED.

I thought they didn't like me because they were intimidated by my masculinity.

Girls don't like me only because they don't know me. As the saying goes, "There are no heterosexual women, only women who haven't encountered Jenny Creed."

A mystery: Do the phone services that offer "Answers to any question or you get a free question" just have a guy working the Google on the Internet machine or what? I don't feel like calling them to test it myself. >_>

I thought they just had this huge surveillance network. PHONE SERVICES WATCHIN' YOU.

Nah, they have their own setup to help them find answers online more effectively, and they have a lot of people working them.

This was remarkably easy using tineye.

First result was labelled, "Theodor Mommsen 1902" from wikipedia.

Does tin eye only work for unedited pics or can you put in part of one? Like if I took a picture off the net and cropped it?

Tineye works for everything. Even searching NonCon's avatar, for instance:

link expires in 72 hours.

Is there anything in those results that lets one know it's a symbol from 20th Century Boys? I can't find anything.

Also, don't we already have the Search Request Thread: Find Crap For Me, Pretty Please? (http://www.nuklearforums.com/showthread.php?t=29481) thread? And what is it doing in Computers & Technology?

Yes, but this is a mystery solving thread, not a search thread. Totally different! No, really!

And what is it doing in Computers & Technology?
I... don't know.
