So, thanks Smarty for bringing attetion to this bizarre event, it was most entertaining!

Today at Court 18 - Gentlemen's Singles - 1st Round the Match between Mahut and Isner went beyond any records with the most current Update i have showing a 53-53 tie... that's a looooooong match of tennis folks.

You can get some staggering stats of the Match on the Wimbledon official website right here:

http://www.wimbledon.org/en_GB/scores/stats/day10/1160ms.html

But the most amazing thing i saw so far was the Live Blog kept by the game commentator Xan Brooks while he descended into madness over this game

http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2010/jun/23/wimbledon-2010-tennis-live

Here is a peak

8.05pm: In the stands, a woman is laughing. She laughs long and hard and her laugh is the sort of ghastly yodel you normally hear in antique horror movies about Victorian insane asylums. "Wa-la-ha-la-wah," she goes. "Wa-la-ha-la-ha-la!" Will nobody drag her out? Call in the goons in white coats. Get this woman to a lobotomy!

Mahut is serving to make it 51-51. Wouldn't you know it, he does. He makes it to 51-51, finishing up with an ace.So, this is amazing to watch, read and laugh! History in the making people... craaaaaaazy history!

I won't over crowd this thread with details because i just learned that half the fund is digging for them, so please, dig!! Dig and Share!!

EDIT: THis is awesome

8.40pm: It's 56 games all and darkness is falling. This, needless to say, is not a good development, because everybody knows that zombies like the dark. So far in this match they've been comparatively puny and manageable, only eating a few of the spectators in between bashing their serves.
But come night-fall the world is their oyster. They will play on, play on, right through until dawn. Perhaps they will even leave the court during the change-overs to munch on other people. Has Roger Federer left the grounds? Perhaps they will munch on him, hounding him down as he runs for his car, disembowelling him in the parking lot and leaving Wimbledon without its reigning champion. Maybe they will even eat the trophy too.
Growing darker, darker all the while.

Gahaha, this thing never ends. Is everyone falling asleep in the fans?

Is it emptying? How do you watch a game for over 9 hours!

9.10pm: Is it over? It is not over. For a brief moment back then, I thought it was over. Isner clambers to match point on Mahut's serve. Mahut steps forward and saves it with his 92nd ace. It's 59-59.

Mahut wants to come off now; the light is almost gone. But the official orders the pair to play two more games. "We want more! We want more!" chant the survivors on Court 18. I'm taking this as proof that they have gone insane.

Apparently they are chanting for more! My gods man!

Game called off at 59-59, they'll resume tommorow.
The last set BY ITSELF is longer than any other tennis match in history.

...I thought the U.S. football victory would be the most exciting part of my day.
...Then back when it was around 38-38 in the 5th, I got a call from my grandfather to watch Isner and Mahut.

Holy shit. This is absolutely insane.

It's started up again.
"Number of games won by Federer on his way to the title last year: 159 Number of games in this match so far: 165"
They are up to 63-63 and theyhave only had 6 5th set break points between them. That is stupid.
And we hav ea new live blogger today:
The players' undead corpes are expected on Court 18 at 3.30pm, at which point we'll find out if we're still dealing with old-school shambling zombies or if a night's rest has allowed either has undergone a mid-noughties George Romero make-over, and can now run and scream and batter down doors.
