Break in.
If high school drop outs who couldn't even be arsed to get a GED can figure out how to break into a house, so can you.

They don't have to pay for window repairs.

That's why you break into your neighbor's house, steal their stuff, pawn it, and pay for the window repairs with the money.

Are all your windows locked? If not, pull the spline off one and remove the screen and crawl in.
Or, since you already have a key on the way, sit it out and keep that in mind for next time. Also consider keeping a key somewhere safe outside the house for these very situations. Seriously, nobody's kept one under the mat in years. It's old enough to be new again.

Fun fact! It's still considered Breaking and Entering, even if you own the house!
The more you know~

No it's not.
'Trespassing' is included in the definition of Breaking and Entering in the US, Canada, the UK, and most other countries besides--probably all of them, but fuck me if I'm going to look up every single country.
The only time it can be 'Breaking and Entering' on property you own, is if you are renting it out to someone else and your lease states that you don't have have the right to enter the property at any time you deem fit.
IN WHICH CASE it doesn't matter if you use your key and don't actually break anything--it's still technically burglarizing the house.

My theory is his pimp locked him out and he's just lying about waiting for a roommate to let him in.

Whelp. That'll serve me for taking what my stepfather says at face value. I was told if a Neighbor saw me crawlin' in the window and called me in, I'd be booked regardless of it being my house or not. :/ Thanks for clearing that up, I may have to go crawl in and out windows just to be a dick to him for a while.

To be fair you might still be booked, just until you can prove you live there.
Same way if you forget your insurance information when you get pulled over they'll ticket you for it, but you can call the court house later and give them the information to have the ticket dropped.

See this is why it's a good idea to learn lockpicking skills.

Because going around picking locks isn't suspicious or time-consuming at all!

Not everybody chooses a class that can learn lockpicking this early in the game, Hawk.
Magic Marker, I guess that means you should use the hours before your roommate shows up to level farm like crazy until you can learn the skill or dual-class as something that already knows how!
I'm helpful! :D

Shoulda picked that lock-picking skill path in 5th grade.
I hear you can become a locksmith in two weeks by mail if you only order the program in the next ten minutes. Also, gun repair and private investigator! If you knew all three skills you'd be some kind of badass detective like in the movies.

Please, everyone knows you should immediately un-learn your base pistol skills and instead go down the sniper/hacking route. By the time you're past the first level you have enough extra skill points to then buff up lockpicking and enough lockpicks that you can easily break into anywhere.
That then just leaves the odd security keypad as the only obstacles on your path to success!
PS; The swimming skill is always useless.

Is it wrong that I am severely tempted to try this? I've always wanted to know lockpicking skills.

I know the basics of lockpicking. It isn't really that difficult, just takes practice, like all things.

I've had to pick a lock as part of my job before. It wasn't as difficult as you'd imagine but I didn't have to do it outside, quickly and surrounded by people who didn't know I was allowed to do it.
