MAGFest (http://magfest.org/) is the Music and Gaming Festival which runs January 13th to the 16th in Alexandria, Virginia. Mac, Nikose, me, and maybe a few others would like to meet up there and share in the gaming revelry. The plan right now is for me to drive to Toronto to pick up Mac and Nikose (and maybe one other) then head down to the festival the next morning and stay there all four days. We have most of the expenses figured out, just have to settle on a hotel.
24-hour gaming and concerts! Hope some of you can make it!
Its a four-ish hour drive for me. I could probably make it , but I have class which means I couldn't make it down until friday night. I'd be happy to meet up with you jerks, though.
And me and Nikose can finally unite and share in our love in person. <3
I will seduce the lot of you with my charms.
(But probably not because I'm probably not going)

I barely plan a week ahead of time, and you want me to look at something in January?
Also, while I do enjoy playing games, if we were to meet up in person I'd rather go out to the bars or something than sit somewhere with a bunch of people to stare at video screens. We can do that remotely. :P
It looks like a fun event, if you like huge LANs or watching random crap.

That is... really close to where I live.
I can't make plans yet, 'cause I don't know what my work situation will be in January, but we should definitely do something together. It'd be nice if I could at least come out one of the nights and we could go drinking. Or we could do lunch one of the days.

Synk: Yeah.. our dealers room isn't much of a dealers room...
So... who wants free MAGfest passes?
If yes then who wants to be my bitch for four days in a row manning various video cameras and running around the hotel like a chicken with your head cut off while also on fire as part of the elite ninja group that is dedicated to archiving everything that is MAGfest on every type of video and audio within my very VERY small budget?
If you have answered yes to both those questions then welcome to MOPS (AKA MAGfest Media Operations)!

Aw maaaan. Dude, that would be right up my alley. (Videography's my hobby.)
Unfortunately I can't make commitments for anything past December, as I don't know if I'll be coming back from leave of absence, unemployed, or at a new job.

A friend and I might be interested in that as something to put on our resumes, but we'll keep you posted. And good to finally hear from you again!

I am never against drinking. If you guys know of any bars or hangout spots in the area I'm up for a little driving. I could also be DD if needed as I don't tend to drink that much.

I'm still big spoon. You're a tiny, tiny man.
This is true. :(
After contemplating it for a while, I might be able to attend. Need to figure some stuff out with my schedule, which, if all goes well, will be figured in the very near future, so I'll let you guys know. If I do attend, I fully intend to be half drunk and half naked the entire time.

I'm gonna need to be more than half drunk before I let you be the big spoon, Nik.

Hi guys! My name is Nick and I help out with MAGFest. I noticed you guys linked to us, so I figured I'd pop in to answer any questions you guys might have about mag. Feel free to ask me anything about registration, location, activities, the local area, or really anything you need to know.
Not to be a total salesman or anything, synkr0nized, but I think this might be the event you're looking for. MAGFest is just basically a 4 day long party, and the video games are really, more than anything, a platform to host that party. The concerts every night add to that party atmosphere. If you want a rowdy time, there are 30 floors of room parties happening above your head, so you're bound to find some drink in there, and are very much welcome to bring your own (as long as you don't consume it in the public areas!).
Also, don't trust a damn word kroze says. Kroze, please consult dom or me before you start offering free badges ;)

Virginia is right across the border. As much as I dislike Virginians, I think I could survive.

Thanks for your input, Nick! Good to have two members of the staff assisting us.
That is, if Kroze is still a member of the staff. :ohdear:
Hotel room is officially booked for four guests over four nights. Two double beds for maximum spoonage.

I don't know Alexandria all that well, but I do know several great places (for either drinks or eats) that are only like 20 mins away.

I do need to get my fresh meat for MOPS somewhere!
And besides, I was here first! SHOO! Go pimp MAG somewhere else! ;P

But then I read the thread and uhhh...errr....uhhhh...

We were thinking of also taking a detour through NYC on the way back, if certain circumstances come together.
Does anyone have any way of getting Nik and Mac into New York State where I can meet up with them halfway? An eight hour drive is not fun.

I mean, if someone could drop them in either Syracuse or Rochester that would make my life a lot easier. I'd even pay for your gas.
At least we have three months to get this together.
[Edit] Officially booked the hotel...unfortunately there were no two-bed rooms available. Which can only mean one thing.

You say that like it's a bad thing. Plus, the guys staying in the rooms can act like flirty couples just to screw with people, though I expect that'd be more amusing in a more rural area where people are more likely to be bigots.
I wouldn't exactly call Alexandria "rural" o_O. Where I live is rural, Alexandria is six miles from DC.

When I said it would be more amusing in a more rural area, I wasn't saying it was a rural area. Just that an area which was more rural would lead to more hilarity. I get that it sounds like I'm implying it's rural, but it's rural-ness could be zero and it'd still work with the statement I made.

Nevermind, Mac and Nikose have a ride as far as PA. That's close enough.
We'll be getting there just before doors open on the 13th.

Oh I know. The problem arises when we might have five or six people staying in the room at once. I'm bringing a sleeping bag nonetheless.

For Fan Expo we stuffed five guys in one hotel room with only one double bed. No couch.
You all shouldn't have a problem sitting 8-10.
Fuck you guys, the bed is for me and Nikose. <3

Those free badges kroze was talking about earlier in the thread is if you sign up to be a volunteer. You get comped certain things depending on how much you work, and if you work for 24 hours during mag, we can comp your full badge cost.

Hey, I figured I'd just drop by one more time to remind you guys about the event. Pre-registration closes monday (jan 10) and things kick off thursday Jan 13th at about noon and run until about 6pm on jan 16, and I'd recommend pre-regging (http://magfest.org) if you're coming. We'll have at the door passes, but not that many before we sell out. Hope to see you guys there!
