Once a year for the past 3 or 4 years I have a weird dream where I get shot by some douchebag. Sometimes it's a fleshwound, sometimes I'm riddled with holes and barely clinging to life before waking up. :ohdear:

I am not familar with recurring dreams, anyone else have weird nightmares like this?

Discuss your dreams, day or night variety.

I had a dream once that I didn't have to tag your threads for you.

I keep having this dream where I'm dressed like a douchebag and I shoot some dude a bunch of times.

Also, seriously? Whats with the fucking hard on for thread tags? Its not as if you've compiled an extensive list or some shit, and things went on pretty fan-fucking-tastic for like... 6 years without the necessity to tag every fuck-awful thread on this fucking forum.

fuck.

Honestly if you're that crazy about tags why don't you make a default tag so that when we forget such a superfluous thing is necessary its taken care of for us.

That's not funny at all, or accurate.

It's funny because you really need to shut the fuck up.

Hey wow these thread tags actually do have a use. I stand corrected.

As long as that's understood.

But enough thread tag shit, talk about your dreams, particularly recurring ones.

Now that we've got THAT settled, why don't you kids settle down and let's get this back on topic about the ever so interesting topic of dreams.

Me, I don't typically remember my dreams, only that I wake up horribly depressed after I have them. I had a friend who would like to talk about the dreams she'd have, but would only be able to remember something completely asinine about them like in one there was a fat duck walking around.

So yeah, woo dreams.

I'm curious about the experience of pain within a dream becuase I'm pretty sure I'd crap my pants if I was really shot but in the dream it's oddly tolerable... Still pretty painful though. I tend to wake up with some amount of cramping after this particular dream.

Haha! fat duck.

I walk around lost and I don't know why
I don't see the faces or the places I should recognize
I have that dream where it feels like home but it don't look right
Yes I will look everywhere tonight
I will not stop till I make things right
And I can't go home till I see the sun
I can't go home without
Chrysanthemum

I also have that dream straight out of Inception, where I go someplace I know for various reasons, like the mall, and as my dreamstate continues, I'm on a boat, back at home, at a friends house, or an entirely different person, or viewing things in the third person.

Then there are those dreams that feel similar to a movie or a book or some situation I've seen before, and I will mentally go through the motions of resolving that situation, usually by unconciously acting out whatever I saw, or doing it my way if the way they did it in the movies was too silly. Or I'm too silly and it's too serious.

I'm a very lucid dreamer!

EDIT: Just for the sake of ontopicness, I do have a fairly regularly recurring dream where I fall out of an elevator. There are no doors, and the shaft is mostly structure... like as in there is no paneling and mostly open air. I don't know why. It's quite weird.

double edit: I used a tag. It is my first. FTW.

I had a dream that played out like a crossover between Doctor Who and Event Horizon. I wasn't the Doctor so I was seriously fucked by the time it ended. Maybe if I find a way to turn my hobby of writing into a career, I could make it into a Doctor Who script.

My dreams have lately become crossovers between a video game I'm currently playing and one of my favorite tv shows. Sort of like a Borderlands/Stargate Universe mix or some shit like that.

I'd say sleep deprivation would be the cause but I don't lose much sleep.

EDIT: A video game in the Stargate Universe setting would actually be pretty cool now that I think about it.

Every time I get a fever, I have the same recurring nightmare.

All I can remember that it's soft and terrifying. And that I always wake up screaming.

I don't like being sick :(

Last night I had the weirdest dream. Right out of a fanfic. It involved Superman and Batman with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fighting Godzilla.

When I woke up, I was curious of what the fuck I was dreaming.

When I was younger, I used to have multiple dreams that involved me being locked in battle with an invisible cowboy. I think I won once.

I wish this was a joke.

Also, once when I was sick, I had a recurring dream of what seemed to be me in a trench in World War I. It wasn't the same dream several times though, it was like a continuation every time I went to sleep.

Last night I woke up and fell asleep like 3 times and had the same stupid dream each time where I was in a woodshop class trying to build a birdhouse, but the teacher kept telling me that I required more pylons.

On occasion, I'll dream that I'm a middle-aged, rather portly monk carrying a sword in a sort of pseudo-modern, pseudo-Medieval place with a large wall. I've only had it twice that I've remembered, but the place was the same both times, and both times there was the same guy asking if I'd seen his sister. I felt especially bad the second time, because it happened about a year after the first, and that he was still looking for her and asking me as a man of the cloth for help and I couldn't give it to him just, well, yeah. It mostly felt like I was using someone else's body, because I never dream about being anyone but myself. It's an unusual experience.

Edit: I guess that's not properly "recurring," though.

My dreams are kind of unique in that I revisit a lot of locations. Sometimes they're variations of real places, like my old schools or my grandparents' house, but in other cases, they're places I've never been and which I assume therefore do not really exist (although one was surprisingly similar to a place in a video game that I didn't play until years later).

When I was in grade school, I used to dream a lot about flying hundreds of feet above the ground like an angel. I remember acting like it was so casual in my dream to spread my wings and fly, and then flying would be so exhilarating and the sight would be absolutely beautiful. I would then daydream about it during school the day after.

Now my most memorable dreams are random lucid dreams where I feel like I'm drugged on something and consciously roll around in bed while I have some crazy dream sequence that either makes no sense or seems absolutely normal, or the occasional premonition-type dream where I imagine some every-day scenario that's completely non-noteworthy and happens later on while I'm conscious and is only something I remember at all because it hits me with a feeling of déjà vu.

Now I remember my dream. The first part was me actually being in Amnesia: Dark Descent and frantically trying to pause and quit when scary shit was after me.

After that all I remember is something that looked like the lovechild of DDO and Fallout 3, and me running around with some kind of allies or something.

Seriously, though, I really haven't been dreaming recently. Or if I have been, I don't remember. I used to have a recurring dream of flight in my childhood, which was really, really awesome, but alas, I haven't had that one in quite a while.

When it comes to dreams I have some of the weirdest ones (if I remember them)

One is that I am observing a time traveler from a fixed point of view in time. Holding a item (i want to say a wrench) from his "future" self to his "past" self. Needless to say Its fucked up and awesome at the same time.

One is that I am trapped somewhere where the entire building is running off of Escher physics. Usually while people or things are shooting at me. This dream has come up once or twice with various reasons that the place is like this. Spaceship AI going haywire. The second Cold war (between US and China) test facility that became the first battlefield for WWIII. Tesladyne getting trapped in a alternate dimension.

another one is where I can travel back in time and fight along side myself. and that for some reason I lose control and become the second...me and had to chase after my First self till ether he shifted or I caught him.

Another is where a virus gets out killing thousands but also giving all that survive it superpowers. However I happen to be the only one immune to the Virus. The Poor/middle class gets more powerful powers then the Rich/upperclass. starting a classwar and both sides are chasing after me in order to get my AntiBodies that would not only stop the virus but also Depoweres people. But I have told you guys about those before.
