We have our new fuel mix, and it's tested.

It's a mix of biofuel and kerosene and burns cold enough that even the ridiculous amount of heat swordchucks throw off will be cold enough to hold them this time of year, and as it gets colder we will be able to brighten it up for you guys with progressively hotter mixes.

Camera and tripod is good to go, chucks primed and tuned, fuel ready, good to go!

Expect a video soon, but it might be in standard definition until I figure out how to work this blasted format my HDR-CX110 Sony Handycam spits out... seems like the programs it came with can't read it and neither can anything else on the market.

Yeah it's taken quite a while to get both the funds for the camera and then get a good fuel mix with the fireban on.

Thanks for waiting =]

Try not to burn down Magic Faerieland, Lev. I'm sure a lot of people would be pissed at the loss of their climate and blame you for their exodus into the unforgiving cold of normal Canada. ;)

In the years I've been doing fire performance I've never burned myself with fire. It's the metal near the fire you gotta watch out for-- instant burns up to second degree. Also, I've never seen anyone get a 3rd degree burn first hand-- but I've seen someone botch a breathe and get second degree all over his face.

Jokes aside, that sounds incredibly amazing and I'd love to see a video as soon as you can get one up.

Even when you were training? Jesus man, are you a fire bender or something??

I got so excited when you said that, and then I remembered I live in the American vancouver. Damn you Canada!

You'd think fire would be hotter, but you'd be surprised-- fire is just heated air... if you don't catch on fire for too long it's really not too bad.

Now that I think about it, I've been burned by the swordchucks before, on my hands... but thats just because they are a 1 of a kind firetool so during testing I didn't realize I needed full on leather gloves to even hold them-- the air superheats around the swordchucks so much that you will get burned just by being close to them.
Leather gloves can take a beating when it comes to heat, but with our previous fuel mixtures it could only take about 30-90seconds before the gloves overheated (and I'm not talking uncomfortably hot, I mean burning/scalding risk).

Central Vancouver, right in the middle of the action, same street as a skytrain station, major bus terminal from north, west, east and south and single bus transfers from both horseshoe bay and tswassen.

Performance area is 25min bus or 15min skytrain fom my street +10 min walk (aprox)

North side of the lake here at dusk (7:30pm-later), Vancouver Burns facebook group for more info.

Still, it would be an hour bus, half hour wait, 1.5 hour ferry and an hour bus both ways so it's not like you won't have time to study, heh.

I'd suggest coming over if you got pals or family here, you could pull off a day trip but you'd be getting back pretty late.

Right, continuing where we are not threadjacking (was my fault). I may have a friend who would want to come. If he does, I may just come. We shall see. Got anyone else to come?

We usually have 5-15 performers out there every sunday.
