It really bugs me when a comedian tells a joke about racism and someone laughs at it as if it is simply a racist joke.

I guess then actually racist jokes would also offend me, but that's more or less a given?

I'm not really dead-set on this being a ultra-serious thread though. What offends you ugly bastards?

Lots of things, but I'll stick with the most basic:

People who talk about other people behind their backs. It drives me insane.

Actually... just betrayers in general. It's rare for me to give my trust, so when it is proven to be a gross misjudgment on my part, that's a hard wound to close.

I think that it varies if this offends me or just annoys a little bit, but people who just don't seem to get that the way they live isn't the only way to live. Or to get that people are different.

It's just that kind thing that makes me some times to think that should I really keep that close contact with some of my friends. It just is that jarring, especially when it clashes with my own way of life, but it can be annoying even if it isn't directed to my life.

Not that I'm not guilty myself to that some times. But it just feels that I'm just not that extreme and I usually notice and point out my own hypocrisy. But then again we all have that cute blind area which we can't see about ourselves, so yeah. Fuck me, that fucker.

Pretty much the only peeve I can say I have right out is when you are having a discussion with someone and they basically put their fingers in their ears and start going "LALALALALALA I CAN'T HEAR YOU LALALALALALALA."

Whether they are doing this in actuality or theoretically has been kind of hit or miss for me.

Basically what I am saying is that if you want to have a discussion with me have a discussion. It's a two way street, you have to listen to my ideas just like I listen to yours, and by the way.... telling me that I have a good counter point to what you are saying but it doesn't change anything is kinda dumb.

These 2, especially when combined! Even more so when I get into a scientific discussion with someone and try to explain a simple scientific fact or theory and they are either completely unable to understand, don't care to even try to understand or believe their view of the universe (which generally contradicts all reason and logic and makes no fucking sense) is the right one even in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary.

I just can't understand how people can be so ignorant of the basic things that govern their existence. It makes me rage.

When a customer comes up to me and asks a question, and while I am answering the customer talks over me and completely ignores the answer that I was giving. I mean, why bother asking me anything if you will not listen to my response? Those types of situations really test my commitment to providing wonderful customer service.

D) Affiliating me or others with drugs unless they joke about it themselves (Just because I came to a diner sick doesn't mean I was stoned of my gourd!)

That D part brings to my mind that while I'm not offended about this one I find it increasingly annoying that some people just can't live with the fact that somebody doesn't drink. Or be surprised that somebody who is sober won't be too keen to come to a bar and blame one not for coming. I'm quite happy though that I live in another town nowadays so I don't need to hear that shit again.

And it's kinda sad that Finnish alcohol culture is what it is. Or any alcohol culture that goes beyond social drinking (never met any who could do just that). And while I can understand that why some people may drink to their worries I just myself don't see it as that great option. And I can't get people who need to drink every fucking weekend. I just really can't.

1) Hypocrisy. The moment you say one thing and do something that completely opposes it, you have lost my respect unless you have a damn good reason or have learned something significant since that declaration.

2) People who think they're all that because they follow a certain religion.

People who think they're all that because they're atheists.

People who think they're all that because of what country they live in (ESPECIALLY when they're Canadian, geez guys, way to give your fellow citizens a bad goddamn name)

...Yeah I guess basically any time someone gets all self-obsessed because of something that has nothing to do with them whatsoever - people who hold up a cause they believe in or an idea they follow as a reason that they're better than other people.

I have no problem with vegans, unless they claim their aversion to meat makes them better than I am. I have no problem with Christians, unless they claim their belief in God and a specific afterlife makes them better than I am. I have no problem with patriots unless they use the "My country could beat up your country" argument.

I mean, to a certain extent I'm actually fine with the kind of person who has an ego the size of the moon, as long as they've done something to prove they deserve it (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bkkFPrNdKu0&feature=related). Them individually, not a group they're a part of.
