Do you like comics? Do you like comic art?

Well, if you're thinking of dropping a lot of money on art at a con any time in the near future, you may want to be aware of this (http://www.bleedingcool.com/2011/03/24/who-on-earth-is-rob-granito/) particular fraud, who makes hundreds of dollars selling other peoples' work as his own original pieces. Most of it is stuff he threw a couple brush strokes over, then some of it is just straight up ripped and projected onto canvases.

Fuck this guy. Like just.... FUCK this guy.

Anyway, now that the whole situation is exploding, I'm sure he's gonna get nailed to a cross (probably figuratively), but he's fooled a lot of people out of their money, so keep an eye out.

I think the warning should be less directed to this particular guy and more to art in general. Its you're going to pay a lot of money for a piece of artwork, its good to get the authors credentials first to make sure everything checks out.

I'm warning about this guy in particular because he's really good at selling a lie, and has gone to ridiculous lengths to make himself look legitimate. Pictures of him covered in paint "working" on projects abound. He's not a small time con man - he's perpetrated some pretty long term schemes.

Yeah, there's people around who will sell art that isn't theirs, but ones that will do it to this extent are pretty rare. Singular, even. This is Music Man level stuff.
