Today on Debatable Desserts....Sushi!

So I've been wanting to make up a batch of dessert sushi for a while now. After having the thought linger around in the back of my mind for months, I finally decided to give it a go.

That was the easy part.

I was actually kinda let-down by my local grocery store. Apparently nobody in my area sells large varieties of colorful candies by the pound anymore. I had to make due with French-roasted peanuts and cake sprinkles.

Once the rice crispy was laid out on a tray, I ran a strip of cake frosting and a gummy worm across from left to right and then rolled the rice over. Afterward I just cut the roll free. One of the rolls was made with a line of cake icing and roasted peanuts.

Taking the roll, I just cut out inch thick slices and wrapped them up in fruit tape. Once they were ready, some were decorated further.

They are easier to decorate anyway.

Anyway, then comes the plating and presentation...

And that concludes this episode of "Cooking with Tev."

Anyone hungry?

I don't like dessert sushi, as a rule. It is not at all sushi, and makes me upset and want sushi. :(

You get praise cause those DO look nice. It would not be out of place in a facy-pantsy pastry or bakery. Not sure about taste, but far from bad looking for sure.

I would suggest your working with some kinda of Jam on those, don't they get too chewy with all the gummy and crisp?

My plan for the next batch is to use more crunchy candies for the center. I found that the roll I made with the peanuts in the middle was much better texturally. Most people however just ate the fruit-tape first and got that layer of gumminess out of the way.

Kinda turned me off to be honest.
