I've noticed that this link's been cropping up a lot. Could it be that the meteor NASA saw grew? Either way it's got them pretty freaked out right now.

I'm beginning to think it's fake which is a shame cause I really am wondering about that meteor that's suppose to be passing earth some time late this year/early next year.

if I recall they are keeping an eye on it because if it moves through a certain area then it MIGHT be a threat the next time it passes. There is no chance of it hitting us this pass

I'm sorry but I don't trust any site whose first objective when I open it is to offer me a choice between free ipads or Thomas Cook holidays just to verify that I'm human, and then asks me if I'm sure I want to navigate away when I try to close it down.
As such I have no idea what that site says, but it's probably a load of shit.

If you're talking about Apophis, it's supposed to make a close pass in 2029. With a zero chance of hitting. It'll make another in 2036. That one has a extremely low chance of impact, depending on what the Earth's gravity does to it.
And I'm looking at the Near-Earth Object directory, and I'm not really seeing anything...
Yeah, the only "M12" object I'm finding is Messier Object 12, which is a cluster of stars. It IS approching us, but it's over 16 thousand light-years away.

Why is there a serious discussion taking place with regards to a 2012 doomsday site?

You know, the nice thing about Gravity, is that there are actually very neat little formulas that tell you exactly what it'll do.
Edit: Also, I keep getting upset that this isn't a thread about MTG.
Edit: Also, I keep getting upset that this isn't a thread about MTG.You and me both. I was all like "M12 is already here!" and then I clicked on the thread and was sad.

I really have a hard time believing in a universe where the mystic religion of the Mayans predicts a rather mundane meteor-related destruction of the earth. I mean these are the same people who thought that eclipses had to be prevented by human sacrifice to the gods. A Mayan apocalypse by definition has to involve nightmare demons tearing through the fabric of dimensions to bring about a reign of endless terror as fire dragons devour us all.
