The newest Magic set, M12, has arrived as of awhile ago, and I just drafted it and had a lot of fun doing so!

I'll probably be drafting M12 a lot, if I can afford it! Anyone else play with the new cards yet?

I preordered the fat pack, all the intro packs, and an entire box of booster packs. I've had them for like 2 weeks now. You're way behind.

I've been playing the new set, and while I like it a lot, my performance is abysmal compared to what I could do in New Phyrexia, but what can you do.

I really actually didn't like the Scars block, past like, Scars. It felt like a letdown, with the fun stuff getting shoved aside, and horribly unfun infect getting promoted.

Pretty much the one and only truly good card that came out of Scars (at least for me) was prototype portal but I might be forgetting something.

No card is objectively good in a vacuum, generally, but there was a lot of fun stuff you could do with Scars, involving things being sac'd/destroyed, that I built a fun little deck around in about ten minutes, to play against my cousin when I forgot my normal deck, and it went really well.

Do you know what prototype portal does? (http://gatherer.wizards.com/pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=209009) Like I've got 9 of them or so at the moment (if I remember right) and I have to really fight the urge to include them in any deck containing artifacts. Voltaic Key (http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=206332) is about the only other card I know of recently with that kind of utility. Of course going a little further back you have the Jitte or Skullclamp. All objectively good cards because they make just about literally any deck you could build better just by being there.

I know what it does, it's in the deck I was talking about, that had a lot of fun blowing everything and anything up.

Skullclamp doesn't make any deck objectively better, just decks with enough little critters for it to fry. And what I meant is that most cards that are good, aren't good in a vacuum, it's how you combine them. Wrath of God, in a vacuum, you're like, "BUT IT KILLS MY STUFF TOO!", but it's a really good card in the right deck.
