Online friends

I am completely aware that I sound like a moron when I ask advice like this, but here it goes anyway;

How do I make friends online ?

I don't have any problems socializing in real life, but it's a whole different story online. When trying to meet new people n' stuff the same problems always emerge.

-Can't find someone with similar interests.
-If I do find them, then the conversation comes to a halt, and no matter what i try to say I don't get more than a "yeah" or "meh" reaction from the other person.
-I always seem to give them a wrong impression, and they end up hating mer or ignoring me

I ask you guys cuz' you're all pretty cool guys and seem to be pretty good at this. I mean.. you're always talking about people you meet online and long distance relationships and stuff.

What should I do ? What kinds of sites do I visit? (I seem to be frequenting the wrong ones) Any advice ?

Once in a while I feel bad about not signing onto MSN that much anymore.
And then I remember I'm anti-social (not really. I just dislike socializing (yes, there's a difference)) and I don't feel too bad.

Go on forums and post a lot. I met some of the best online friends that way because sooner or later we'd chat on AIM or something, for hours at a time. I only have a few I chatted with a TON, though. Kind of like in real life.

We're pretty international so while we do have calm periods there's usually at least some of us Eastern hemisphere people there when all the Americans are asleep if you use the net at weird hours.

When I said that I don't have problems socializing in real life i mena that i am not shy or too weird around people and I can talk with them without problems.... BUT it doesn't mean I enjoy it.
I am surrounded by the most boring and annoying persons you could imagine, that's why need to talk to "teh internetz peoplez".

In case that doesn't work, the chat doesn't like Chrome (or any Chromium variants) but, it works fine in Internet Explorer, or something based on it like Maxthon or Chrome Plus' IETab

I think that the same rules for real life basically apply online. Don't take yourself too seriously, be polite, be yourself, all that kind of stuff.

The other part is just time ... I felt the same way as you for a long time here and eventually things just kind of clicked. You have only a handful of posts in the last 4 years - if you get a little more involved, people will get to know you.

You could always try Twitter. Twitterfriends are the best of friends. Yesterday I myself found that people I follow will totally accept/tolerate me and what I post.

So yeah, I can totes vouch for Twitter and it's MAGICAL FRIENDSHIP POWER.
