I was discussing this with Snake on Msn earlier this evening:

Let's say NPF would have a gathering, and this gathering would have a bal, where people are most likely to dance. How would most of us look like whilst dancing? Would some of us need to get really drunk before gathering the courage to step up on the dance floor? Would some of us step up right away, no drinks whatsoever, just to have a good old time? Would some of us be gallant and ask a lovely lady/handsome man to partake in a duo dance of any sorts? Would one of you blow our minds with your dancing prowess and leave us all in the dark? And also, would there be a conga line?

As for me, I'd need to be drunk as hell before I'd gather up enough courage to go and dance for whatever reason. I'm a terrible dancer, even when I'm not drunk; I step on a man's feet almost continuously during a slow dance and if I'm in a conga line, I'll definitely fall and make everyone behind me fall flat on their faces as well. However, when I'm really drunk, I'll dance and not have a care in the world of how ridiculous I look at the moment. One dance I'd like to learn though, is Tap Dancing. I find it awesome.

How about you? Can you/can you not dance? Do you like to dance? What dances can you dance? Taken any lessons? Etc.

No Booze: light jazz dancing, maybe some swing if I have a partner that's comfortable with it.

If I had been drinking, I'd be doing some obnoxious dance that I would think is breakdancing and everyone else would think I'm catsnuffing.

I had a friend that was a HUGE dance routine nut; she taught me quite a few moves that most people would assume a 250-lb man would never know (Mostly MJ stuff; Thriller, Smooth Criminal, Billie Jean).

Once you actually got me to start them I'd have no problem showing them off (I have a "Fuck it already started, may as well go all the way" mentality with just about everything I do), but getting me to break outta my comfort zone to do something like that is a task no mere mortal can accomplish :P

Also yeah outside of a couple 2-3 minute highly-choreographed runthroughs I got nothing, so I'd just kinda stand there awkwardly trying not to draw any attention and/or just head on over to the side and try to chat it up with fellow wallclingers.

This is NPF, on the offchance that we manage to coerce every active member (and some lurkers) into showing up, we will look ridiculous. It would be absolute chaos on the bar and the dance floor, with drunkards all over the place and the admins shouting at those few to stop dirty dancing (you know who you are).

Me, I'd be recording the whole thing for Youtube, or some other site if the dance goes downhill to the point where it violates some content policies.

I'm actually comfortable with about a half dozen ballroom dances. Of course, the only one I've done recently is East Coast Swing (it's the swing dancing you're most likely thinking about) so I'd likely be WAY rusty on the others. As far as just nightclub getting my groove on, I'm much less comfortable with that, but I've been getting better about it. I'm getting a lot better at saying "fuck it" to my insecurities.

I don't think I've done any actual dances since they made us learn some in 8th grade gym class over a decade ago. So combine that with my general lack of coordination, and I think me dancing would be a horrible idea. It would probably be worst than this -> :dance:

Of course, given that I'm one of the few people around here who doesn't drink, I'll probably be too busy shuttling people around as the designated driver to really do much dancing anyways.

I may very well start to dance right off the bat, though some liquor does help. The more I take in, the less I care about how I look while dancing. However, this also has the terrible effect of changing my dancing from simple sways and bounces to batshit jumping and flailing.
