So like when we talk about electrons and things we talk about orbitals and stuff and we have all this math to work out where an electron exists around a nuceus and you run the math through your computer and you get all these crazy orbitals and clearly they're not real because nobody has ever seen themm....

Basically people have made really clear images of atomic orbitals for the first time (we've had murky pictures before but these are realy good). And they look just how we think they should work.

Yes, but can your math solve for Love?

Bookworm, what happened in that alley was special, but it's past now.

That doesn't look anything like a tiny solar system. This is worse than learning that dinosaurs have feathers everything!

Do they even teach electrons flying around in circles anymore? I'm pretty sure I never was taught that. As soon as we learnt about where electrons are we learnt that they're not big circle things.

Every diagram of an atom i've ever seen is like a little solar system though if they were actually teaching that this was literal I dunno i was busy looking at pictures of tiny solar systems

Like on tv and shit they use pictures like that for atoms becuase they easy to recognise. But pretty sure they're not in any textbooks anymore even for like high school kids.

Behold the power of chemistry and math:

Oh, if we're doing chemistry jokes:

.....Fe
..../...\
Fe......Fe
....\.../
.....Fe

It's a ferrous wheel.

So they aren't little balls?

No man they totally are! They are insanely ballicular, in fact!

Unimaginably ballicular! As in took years for them to find a bit of them that wasn't ballicular

If tennis has taught me anything it's that love = 0. Book it, done, next question.

Do they even teach electrons flying around in circles anymore? I'm pretty sure I never was taught that. As soon as we learnt about where electrons are we learnt that they're not big circle things.

They taught the circle thing in early high-school, then when I hit Grade 11 or 12 they basically went, "Yeah, all that shit we taught you before? Lies and blasphemy. Forget EVERYTHING."

Like, on the one hand it made sense to use the easier/wrong version just to simplify teaching some of the lower-level chemistry stuff, but on the other, the sheer amount of wasted time and shit that they had to reteach makes me want to gag somebody.

...And once you start thinking of stuff in terms of the little circle orbits, it's really, really hard to shift to the more accurate version.

Don't you love how they build up to higher level science by telling you FILTHY LIES? :|

Like before high school everyone everywhere is all "First you have a hypothesis, then when there's evidence it becomes a theory, then when there's MORE evidence it becomes a law"

Then in high school they're like BITCH PLEASE
