If you install a script or flash block addon, none of it will even load until you want it to; I quite like them myself.

Embedding itself isn't the problem**, so I'd wager the better course would be to prevent the misuse of the feature, not the feature itself, if this ends up being an actual problem.


** While we may be able to modify the YouTube forum mod's code to strip out/ignore the autoplay feature, the easier option would be for people to just not do it.

Stuff in swap tags loads, though, just doesn't get displayed, and I have to assume code like autoplay also gets executed. I don't know how it interacts specifically with videos because I, too, have flashblock, but let's say don't do anything that causes audio or video to play automatically when someone opens a thread.
