Have y'all shaved, just in time to not shave for the rest of the month?
Since I have. And I have found out that my face looks funny without a goatee. I dunno if it's just that I'm used to it or what, but it's weird every time I look in the mirror.
So, I'm going to avoid all mirrors until my goatee is back.

I'm contractually obligated not to shave my beard ever since I made that deal with the devil in which I agreed to advertise his evil goatee.

I find this thread extremely disturbing for the fact that it comes up the day before I intend to actually-shave-for-real-this-time (I've been putting it off for a while).

It's things like this that really adds on to the rage I feel everyday from realizing that I can't get my own place due to so many damn problems.
This was just the sort of crazy excuse I needed to not shave my beard.

The name is Movember. You must shave the beard but leave the mo. You are doing it wrong.

I was also under the impression you cannot show up on Nov 1st with a pre-grown moustache. I think they have a word for that. Oh yeah! Cheating!

I'm not allowed to partake in such events as this 'no shaving' nonsense.
If I did, my perfect disguise of not being a sasquatch would be ruined.

Well obviously not. If you show up with one it gets set on fire. I don't think anybody here was planning such a dastardly scheme however.

Look at it this way; if you weren't so camera shy you could make a cozy living on the tabloid circuit.

Sounds to me like silly justifications for the folically challenged.

So we girls don't have to shave our legs and armpits this month?

No girls should also grow a mo if they wish to take part.
Compare these pages
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Movember Proper article, multiple sections, lots of references.
Even got the rules:
# On "Shadowe'en" (October 31), the complete moustache region, including the entire upper lip and handlebar zones, must be completely shaved.
# For the entire duration of Movember [November 1–30], no hair shall be allowed to grow in the goatee zone (any facial area below the bottom lip).
# There is to be no joining of the moustache to sideburns.

Movember became popular...what, two years ago? I've been doing no shave november since 2007. I literally stopped shaving before it was cool. So I will continue to be a hipster, and let the whole beard do whatever it wants. Oh yeah, it's gonna' get hairy on this beautiful face.

I actually look stupid(er) without one.
In other news, I got carded for the first time in like a year, today, buying a lotto ticket. I miss my goatee.

A somewhat commendable if highly predictable reply from someone who has an almost suspicious love of pubic hair.
However! This is Movember, which is in-month growth for actual charity, not "I have a beard year-round and am too insecure to shave any of it so I'll just keep it for November too." So there!

Wouldn't the folically challenged be the ones who want to keep the beard, since they wouldn't get it back soon enough?

I have a long standing irritation with Noshave November/movember. Now mind that this irritation is solely on the male spectrum of this fad. Don't try to blow smoke up my ass about how it is for a good cause for cancer awareness or some tripe like that, 'cause frankly I'd say folk are pretty well aware about cancer and that it sucks balls. Hundreds of balls.
What gets my goat is the lack of dedication to the follicle cause. One month? I call it weakness.
Twelve years to the cause and still counting. Because as the philosobeards at Beardly say, "any man can grow a beard. A true man never finishes one."

Actually there's a ton of men that can't grow a beard (and probably a ton of women that can!). I now have strong doubts on their relevant degrees in beardology.

I think you're missing the point. Anything that cannot grow a beard cannot, by definition, be a man.

I don't think the event has any stipulations for any part of the body that isn't the face.
I could not shave for a month, but all I get out of the deal is slightly less spiky chin fuzz. *Shrug*

Auntie Smith is a MAN? :ohdear:
Edit: I was never really missing the point, so much as acknowledging that I have interacted with some men that actually feel pretty inferior because they can't grow much facial hair, because bearded men tend to call them inferior. On the point itself I was always confused, because I would absolutely LOVE to just not have to shave [e: and the consequences of which be not dealing with an itchy growth that blocks food or women]. I guess it boils down to it sucks to be made fun of, and may even drive people to go on beard-shaving rampages.

Pyros can get a bit rugged, but never a full beard. Like a perpetual 'took to drinking' look.
So I mostly keeps myself shaved!

No matter how long i wait my facial hair always looks bad. I might participate since I'm not looking for a job this month (and my brother is organizing a huge contest of it)

Mmm...I'm beardy over here. It's so patchy, so thin in some places, but every one in a while a cold breeze comes by and I do not shiver. Everyone around gazes upon me and thinks, "Damn, I wish I had a beard. Like that guy." It's good to be beardy.
