In this day and age where we have any number of electronic devices have a clock, I was curious who still carries a watch around.
I used to carry a pocket watch around, but with cellphone, wallet, and ipod my pockets have grown too full

I have one I used to wear a lot. Now I don't wear it that much anymore. Just when I go somewhere, where I have to turn off my cellphone. But when I wear it my wrist starts hurting... which is just great.

I have a wristwatch, but part of the strap broke a few years ago so I've been fashioning a replacement bit out of tinfoil and tape since. It rarely lasts long but it does the job and is easily replaced.

Ayup.
I'm rather compulsive about checking the time, so pulling my cell phone out of my pocket gets to be a pain in the ass.
And watches are just classy.

I do not. I have access to some sort of clock at all times which renders it entirely unnecessary.
Considering all of them except for my alarm clock and the clock in my car automatically update with daylight savings time, I like it that way.

I have been using the clocks on computers and my cellular phone for, oh, maybe a decade now instead of wearing a watch. Before my watch broke a few years back, I basically wore it out of habit / it went with what I was wearing.
The prevalence of smartphones, or really even just mobile phones with screens, killed the "need" for a watch, IMO. But that doesn't make them worse, out of fashion, or whatever.
Of course there are definitely times and activities where a watch is more convenient.

I dont carry a watch, but I should because I got one as a present ages ago and I still havent taken it anywhere to tighten it a bit so I can wear it.

I've known two people who regularly wore watches. One worked at a work store in high school, and the other did not necessarily wear it as a time piece.

To think of it, I used to attach my watch to one of those belt holding things on my pants, whatever they are called. (I don't even know what they're called in my native tongue) I did this because I was allergic to the material it was made of. But it pretty much looked like, yeah, I don't give a shit about your human time. Go be in a hurry, I'll be here not giving a fuck.

I do indeed wear a watch. It was a gift from my dad for my high school graduation. Currently the battery is dead for it has not adorned my wrist for a couple of weeks, but as soon as I get a chance to replace that battery it will be there again.

When i was working we were not alowed to (nor would anyone really want to) have any electronic devices on you. So I wore a cheap waterproof watch then to be sure I could keep track of the time (given that Often times in the end I would be working a 18 hour day)
Now that I quit and I am focusing on school...I don't I use my Digital recorder's clock/my itouch's watch.

I do.
Wanna pick up a pocket watch at some point, though.

Got a very nice watch as a gift in high school. Looks simple, sleek, shiny and yet was digital instead of analog. Perfect fit for me. Been wearing for the last 10 years and I feel naked if I go out of the house without it.
It's annoying that so few people wear watches and yet expect me to give them the time. I mainly find it useful because my workplace doesn't allow people to carry their cellphones or other similar devices when on the job. (That and for specific reasons I almost NEVER use a phone anyways)

I tell time by observing the position of the sun in the sky.
I'm often fashionably late. Or early.
Watches are the refuge of poor people. I have my manservant Sebastian carry a full-sized grandfather clock behind me at all times.
Which reminds me, I need to check the time.

I have a wristwatch, which I wear around once a month or something, and even when I have it with me that day...
I keep a wrist watch in my pocket.
It doesn't hurt or anything but after a while it bothers me.

I do that too. Mostly if I want to get the band off stage.
Surprisingly effective.
Also, I do wear a watch. Just an aside.

There's not much need to wear a watch as a means to tell time anymore. As such I'll only wear a watch as a piece of jewelry. Don't really have the funding for an acceptable watch at the moment so in a nutshell I won't wear a watch until I've got several grand sitting around. Maybe when I'm forty.

Use to but I stopped after Highschool. Since then I've always used my Cell phone and eventually my current smart phone to tell time.
Watches are just not really needed anymore.
There's the I'm Watches that were made over in italy as a way to bring beck the watch. But those are just smart phones with a wrist strap and are too expensive to own right now.

Time is for chumps. I recognize no schedule. (Brotip: Write this on job applications where they ask about your availability. Potential employers will be impressed with your confidence.)
I wear a Casio G Shock though, because A. It sounds like a horrible sexual technique, and B. It is completely indestructable.

I wear a plain silver Timex wristwatch I've had for about twelve years now. The only expenditures involved were purchasing a larger wristband and replacing the batteries twice (just this Christmas was the second time). I kept telling myself it would be cheaper to just buy another one but then realized they are charging like 30 dollars for these things now, what's up with that? 4 dollars for a battery that lasts 3 or 4 years just seemed easier than trying to find this exact same watch for a price I was willing to pay.
I also have a Remington pocketwatch I received as a Christmas gift, I would have worn it with a suit but I have a very nice-looking cheap-o Armitron wristwatch that looks more expensive than it is to wear with suits.
I saw some U.S. Polo Association wristwatches at a nice price during this holiday season but was confused by the amount of gadgets on them, combined with none of them having the expanding wrist-straps I like. Basically I like that my Timex has the day of the week and date on it, and indiglo; I don't see much point in all that other stuff.
If I were to ever spend money on a fancy watch it would probably be a Zodiac or Omega something, I don't think I'd be willing to drop the money on a Rolex just for the sake of owning a Rolex.
EDIT: Haha, apparently that 300 dollar Zodiac I saw was on special, I'd have to be Mr. Moneybags to drop 800 dollars on one of these things.

I never wore a watch, even before I had a phone to carry around (which was a large chunk of high school). I never even had my car clock set to the proper time. I was always just fashionably early to everything because I never knew exactly what time it was.

I just have to say that the widespread use of cellphones as timepieces has led to a vast multitude of students, disallowed from accessing them during school hours, asking me what time it is constantly. I was a bit confused why none of them owned wristwatches until I figured out the cellphone thing a few weeks in.
I've worn a watch for years. I'm not sure when I started--high school at the latest-- but I've never understood why cell phones so readily replaced them. I mean, sure, they're useful if you've got them out, but otherwise you have to go rummaging through your bag or your pocket or whatever to find them instead of just looking down.

This scenario implies that the average cellphone user does not already have an unbreakable deathgrip upon their smartphone for two-thirds of the day.
Yeah as I was typing it it occurred to me I was being a bit silly.

Purchasing (very expensive for a nice one) and wearing a separate piece of technology (which you may not think actually looks nice) every day versus...Taking something out of your pocket?

I wore a watch for my twelve years in school. I think about one month after I graduated the wrist band snapped like a decomposed bit of plastic, and I started carrying it in my pocket. I had at the time a very useful little digital watch that could store 50 tiny snippets of data and/or reminders so I wasn't about to let that one go. Especially since it worked for five years without a chance of battery. (it just had a constantly flashing battery warning for the last three.) Then it died, and no new batteries could fix it. So one day I threw it into the woods outside my grandparents' house and my cousins and I watched as it flew behind the leaf of a fern and vanished into thin air. We spent maybe 30 minutes looking for it with no luck. Those were some weird damn woods.
And no, since then I've used a cell.

I found my watch annoying because water would get under it when I washed my hands sometimes, and that was irritating. Cell phones on a fairly strict no water basis, so that solves that issue. And then as a smartphone it does a ton of other things.

I am actually pretty good at this because I know more than a person should about the times of sunrise and sunset through the day. Though I live in Ohio where half the year I rarely see the hot sky circle and my ability to judge passage of time without some reference is absolutely horrible. There have been times I thought only a few minutes had passed only to learn its been hours.
