So, lately I've developed the terrible, self-destructive habit of looking up terrible things on the internet. As much as I'd like to, I probably shouldn't keep spamming them in the chat, which means I'm going to share them all with you.

I found this browsing the "fictives" tag on Tumblr.

Fictives are when people on Tumblr convince themselves they have multiple personalities and that one of those personalities is a fictional character. As you can see above, this person thinks they're the Doctor.

I think otherkin are when someone believes they're an animal in a human body. So... yeah...

Of course, fictives alone is one thing, but what happens when you ship your fictives? Apparently this.

About Us

Hello. We’re the Magneton System. Yes. Like the Pokemon. Yes. We have problems.

The TARDIS
Ours is a gateway system, with two (vaguely related) primary worlds, and LOT of secondary ones (which are usually variations on the primaries). The exterior of the headspace, thanks to Wade, resembles the TARDIS and exists outside of the space-time continuum. Inside is a single Common Room containing a couch, a TV, and various other things that come and go as they’re needed. Parked in a corner is the Doctor’s own TARDIS (TARDISception!), which is both his means of traveling elsewhere and his living area.

There are several staircases that lead to doors. The number is constantly in flux, although there are four that don’t change. Two lead into the primary worlds, one leads to Chell’s living area, and the other leads to Caroline’s living area.

The TARDIS itself doesn’t really exist anywhere—it’s like the terminal of an airport. It’s a place for people to talk to each other but, ultimately, they leave. No one (with the exception of the Portal fictives) actually lives there.

What happens in the Room stays in the Room. If, for example, Tom was to talk to Deadpool, while in the Room he’d have memories of it, but when he went back to his own world, he wouldn’t. That’s why if you ask him, HIS friends in HIS world don’t know he’s part of a system—because outside the room he’s just Tommy, to himself and to others.

The System
There are several regulars, as well as a number of fictives and walk-ins. Fictives are just what they sound like: headmates who originated elsewhere and moved in here. Walk-ins are, the way I define them, are headmates who come and go as they please. They’ll be here for a while, then leave for ages, and we’ll think they’ve gone, but then show up again out of the blue. They are not permanent system members.

PM: Short for PostmodernMacro, I’m the host. (I use that term in the sense of hosting an event or a party. It’s my body, they just hang out here.) I’m also the original, but overall, that doesn’t mean much as far as “realness” goes—I’ve met some systems without originals.

I’m otherkin. A badgermole, to be specific, although I have an avian and feline side as well. I don’t mind being called a person. (Some ‘kin prefer “being” to “person”, but “being” just sounds so impersonal to me.) Here’s my otherkin blog.

I’m an androgyne who prefers ey/em/eir pronouns, although I’m not gonna get upset if you call me something else. As long as you know I’m not a girl and not a boy, I’m fine.

They are not different personalities, they are different people. If they were different versions of myself, they would be my different personalities. I don’t have DID or MPD. I am a natural multiple and my headmates are as follows:

Kaz - me- dragon otherkin- I run this show, being the owner of the body, and the host, and the core of the system. Any pronouns will do, but she is the one most people call me.

Raan - been here for 5 years. Also a male dragon, but he can shift into a tiger. He likes to smoke weed, get high, and thing about ways he can creatively fit cusswords into every day life. He’s not that much of a jerk, just racist and sexist and rude at all the wrong moments. He’s actually nice and really over protective of this friends. In short, he’s an asshole to anybody who gets offended easy.

Kell- a andro/male green skintoned elf with a feathered tail. He’s probably the one you would look at and lean over to your friend and say ‘gaaaaaayyyy’ Looks like a hipster, acts like one too,

Blackbird - tall male guy with long black hair (like equius) and stark white skin. Has large black wings, clawed hands and talons for feet. He has had a bad past. Don’t try to hurt him, or Raan will rip your head off, we all will really.

Dellos- a davesprite fictive, but has since tried to differentiate himself. Has Dave’s record shirt, large black and gold-orange wings, red hair, and talons and claws for hands and feet. He goes by Dave sometimes too. He really doesn’t give a fuck about anything. He gets stuck at the front a lot.

Monroe- From Grimm, he’s a tulpa that I created. He seems to be a younger version of Monroe, anywhere from 13-24 and sometimes he’s a red tailed hawk too?

Riko/Roki- he’s just stopping by sometimes, but he’s (an axolotl mexican salamander) with long white feathers everywhere. In his human form he has white hair and pink eyes, and he’s Kellos’ sparring buddy. He fights with a KAWAII SWORD (one of those katanas)

Can't wait for GitS's virtual chatrooms where everyone has an avatar that looks and acts like tv characters. Talking world politics in a chatroom with CoolCustomer, HawtSekrtry25, Doctors 12 & 13, Spiderman, Shadow the Hedgehog, Ma-Ti, 30 different Motoko Kusanagi's (because in the future, everyone wants to be Motoko Kusanagi, otherwise it just means it's going to suck for you) and Bronic the hedgehog, who is subsequently banned by Shadow for being a fake hedgehog.

In every conversation where there's multiple iterations of a character, someone will bring up that recently happened in that show, and while most will say "Oh, that's not me, that's the one from a different canon." and then there will be that one guy who jumps up waving his hand going "Ooh, Ooh! That happened to me, and I am very torn up about it!"

And then there will be some memetic slur attached to people who go about online as canonically deceased characters, calling them "Zombies" because they still go about and cause all the other characters from their show grief/awkwardness because suddenly that deep tragically dead loved one that torments their every waking hour just walked by on his way post fan art in the Creatives thread.

And when the government starts to step in because of copyright law and mandates that there can only be one person with a given identity online, being the 'original' or 'actual' fictive suddenly becomes SERIOUS BUSINESS and they all are forced to engage in some sort of epic virtual Battle Royale to see who is the REAL Dean from Supernatural (or Shadow the Hedgehog...anyone else hearing that one cutscene from SA2 in their heads? "Faker? I think you're the fake hedgehog around here!). And then, when a new media is made, companies will go ahead and set up their own proxy fictive so that the reputation of their character on the 'net won't be tarnished.

Honestly? I'm kind of surprised y'all are so down on... whatever this is, and especially Liz in particular.

I mean, sure, it sounds pretty ridiculous, especially fictives. But, I've heard transgenders say, "I'm a woman trapped in a man's body." Honestly, I can pretty easily draw a parallel to someone saying, "I'm a badger trapped in a man's body."

Or to summarize, FICTIONAL. They get that it's fiction.

Whereas Otherkin are horrible, pathetic and really, really stupid.


"I am mentally a woman and perceive myself as such" involves gender, something malleable and defined by the self.

"I am a badger" means you have a mental defect and need to stop rutting with that chair. My furniture is new and you are ruining it.

I hope this summarizes the differences as cleanly as possible. (And yes, there are some people who call themselves furries but are clearly otherkin in action.)

Re: Popular fictives being prevalent: Here's my thoughts on this, which have developed after a lot of talking with one of my headmates. Everything in this universe is comprised of energy; you, me, etc. The same goes for thought, it's energy as well. In the case of fictives, the ones that have more energy (thought) directed toward them, the stronger they'd be. This might account for why the more popular fictive are the ones you hear about getting linked up most often - they have a advantage.

Yeah I totally see how this is exactly and directly comparable to transgendered individuals coming to a rational conclusion that their gender in fact does not correspond to the sex of the body they were born in. Transgendered people are just possessed by the ghosts of individuals of the opposite sex! All a faithful Republican needs to do is call an Exorcist!

To compare transgendered individuals who truly are the gender they consciously associate as to fictives who are so clinically depressed that they're indulging in fantasies to escape from boredom or any other personal plight is downright offensive. It assumes that the gender the transgendered person associates as is every bit the 'fiction' as the identity of the character the lunatic claims to possess part of his mind. In this conceptualization, you're not truly accepting the transgender person's declaration of his/her true gender, you're just tolerating their 'incorrect' statements because you're "a nice tolerant guy." There's a seismic difference.

Merely suffixing with your incorrect and boldly inappropriate statement with "I don't care how much you tell me it's incorrect and inappropriate, I'm still right and LA LA LA I CAN'T HEAR YOU!" is essentially, at best, an admission that you already know you're wrong and just being controversial for grins and giggles, and certainly does not exempt me from my obligation as a decent human being to tell me that you are in fact saying stupid things.
