Me and my friends are going to murder eachother in paintball tomorrow.
I have never played paintball before however! I don't think they have either.
So give me advice! Give me an edge against those jerks whom I surround myself with! HELP ME NPF! YOU ARE MY ONLY HOPE!

Make sure to get helmet goggles that don't steam up at the slightest hint of moisture. You'll probably have to pay extra, but so be it.
Also make sure to not go against a bunch of off-duty army guys and their kids, like I had the misfortune to be massacred by during the one (and only) time I went paintballing, when I was 16 or so. Never again.

Dress in Tie Dye clothing. Preferably ones that look like it has lots of dots.
Pro: Your clothes is already splattered in rainbow. What is a few more paint splots?
- You get to screw with the scores since you can claim "X" paint splot was there before you got shot. :3
Con: You stand out. Incredibly so. Stealth is a laughable idea.
- Probably not terribly fashionable either.
Also: DUAL WIELD!
Seriously: Try to occupy locations which minimize the amount of targetable locations on your person.

Haven't been paintballing in forever, but let's see what I can do here...
1) Try and wear thick clothing! Getting hit sucks, everyone knows that. So try and minimize the damage. Unless of course you don't mind welts, but that's completely up to you.
2) When you go out to shoot, try and keep your profile small. Just stick out your gun and your head if you can. Smaller target = smaller chance of getting hit. And with the crappy guns you'll probably get as a rental, all the better! Common sense, yeah, but some people tend to forget while they're actually on the field.
3) As good as your aim can be, like I said the guns you'll end up renting may be pretty crappy. So just try and get a good idea of how your gun ends up shooting as soon as possible. If you can control your spread, you're better off than most.
4) Be willing to charge! Despite how annoying it can be while under fire, if you can manage to get to better cover you're one step closer to hitting something. The guns can only shoot so far after all. So if you can find it in you to sprint 20 feet or so, do it.
Ok, that's all I've got for now. Like I said, it's been a loooooong time. But it really is mostly common sense and stuff you pick up while doing it.

I only played Paintball once in my life, i wish i would play more and at the same time i hate it.
Me and a friend coordinated an assault, he took the front and i covered him, then he covered me as i ran towards him, people started shooting at us, which led to me plunging into the dirt floor ahead to escape into cover. Hitted both knees on the ground doing that.
i only took a single hit the whole match, and it was between my legs, right at the corner of my crotch.
I was not able to walk properly the next day and was covered in small bruises.
Loved it.
My main tip is to pay attention to your mask, Breathing in a poorly choose or placed mask can easily blur your vision rendering you completely useless.
PS: It hurts like a motherfucker.

How many layers should I wear for it to hurt LESS like a motherfucker?

oh wow that really depends. It's all about padding really. If i were to play it again now i would sure as hell put up a couple of Sweaters over a polo shirt, and even with that i'm pretty sure i would still have marks if i was shot...

Shoot for the groin and for the most part treat it like Bullestorm in terms of creativity.

I played Paintball once and anything I'd learned in the army had no use to me because everyone just goes running around and charging and shooting where ever.

Go airsofting instead. Less painful, cheaper, and the guns look more like real guns.

Either run and pay attention to where you're running, or stand still and shoot.
Don't combine both.
I don't know what the paintball court is going to look like, but if it's even slightly forested a stray tree trunk is quickly in your way; that will end in you stepping on, or tripping over it. Meaning you'll end up sitting at home for a few weeks with, at best, a sprained ankle.

If others protest, just tell them you were using grenades.

You could use a squirt gun as, like, a flamethrower of paint.

Make sure it's flammable paint.

You could probably put in an advance call to the Whaaambulance to reduce waiting times pookums.

Yeah I've played paintball it don't hurt that much even if you get hit square on. No more than any other bruise.
Get an RC car, put a paint squirt gun on with remote trigger. Unmanned drones!

Does the Mentos/Coke trick work on carbonated water?
cause, you add some color on the water and make some sort of "step to release" system for the mentos and you have yourself a very decent and safe Mine

Paint filled water balloon on some sort of spring loaded contraption or just with a small firecracker under it or something.
Edit: Someone already found a better solution. (http://www.alternativepaintball.com/mines.htm) Seriously though google is your friend.

Aaaand Im back.
Wasn't that bad. Played around 8 rounds. Might've been more fun if any of us knew what we were doing. About halfway in, some family came in and we played against them, and they basically dominated us. It took me a while to take that "don't be afraid to charge" tip to heart, but when I did it managed to slow them down.
It was all kinda close quarters. Two ends, one with two bunkers and the other with a bunch of fences and etc. There was this inclined path with a bunch of trees you could use to flank, but the other team always managed to make better use of it.
The shots sorta hurt when they collided, but the pain didn't last long. At any rate, I guess I didn't get hit bad. Got shot in the hand and that wasn't pleasant but it stopped hurting by the time the round was done with. I got shot in the mouth of the face mask though, and paint went straight through the breathing hole and into my mouth.
But yeah we all had fun even if we were mostly goofing off. We wasted a LOT of ammo. Like, we didn't really understand the concept of 'aim'.
e: also when I got back I found a tick on my leg in the shower and that was sorta unpleasant
