What you guys feel about this? Does he actually have a point?

The idea that leaps in innovation come from challenging a frontier and overloading a generation with a target on the horizon making people wonder and desire enables leaps in technology and, simply put, profits.

The man is brilliant, no doubt about it... But what you guys think of his ideas on a common grounds level? Can it really be that change he believes it could be?

I read his book, "Death by Black Hole" before, it was quite an interesting read for me.

I admit I was somewhat baffled by the internet's collective hard-on for this guy, but now that I've watched a few of those videos I'm starting to see it.
