My apologies at the confusion of the title. I've just seen X-Men: First Class. I made a comment on Facebook as to Gerrard Shaw playing Sebastien Shaw, adn my older brothers fought against one another in film criticism.

I do not wish for brothers to fight against brothers,

I am seeing double right now. (I blame the whiskey.)

But please: Imagine! (Like Martin Luther King Jr.!)

HERE"S THE THING. (Not really The Thing, 'caise that's an evil alien entity.) BUT! I've hear it on Cracked that Magneto is the Malcom X to Professor X's Martin Luther King Jr.

If you were a mutant, nevermind your powers (I would so totally be Elixer) what would your stance be? Why would your stance be that? Jeepers creepers, sir/andor/madam why would you do that?

I'd just use my powers for personal gain and ignore the politics until it starts affecting me personally. Like I'm pretty sure if I had powers I'd become a criminal and start robbing banks until I could afford a private island somewhere where I could just chill out and relax, but as soon as some damn Sentinel comes strolling down the street trying to kill/capture me then I'd totally kick its arse. And if a full blown mutant war broke out then I'd probably fight back and try to help end it asap, so I can get back to living the easy life.

This is assuming I actually have decent powers that allow me to rob banks/fight in a war. I'd hate to end up being like, Marrow or Toad or some shit, that'd be lame.

I would murder everyone except poor dudes.
I think comparing Malcolm X to Magneto is pretty offensive too.

Something like this came up fairly recently, I told whoever I was talking to that I would use my powers to become wealthy enough to live in relative comfort without having to hold down a job. Then I'd start fighting crime.

I thought it was morally justifiable to steal insured money from a bank in order to give me more time to fight crime. He disagreed.

I currently lazily ignore my imperative as a privileged white male to work toward bringing about social justice. I don't see why super powers would change that.

Seil's post makes me want a remake of The Meeting (http://www.dramatists.com/cgi-bin/db/single.asp?key=150) where MLK and Malcolm X duke it out with super powers, perhaps controlling giant chess pieces on a life-size board as opposed to regular ones. However, they suddenly realize that the black and white pieces they are playing with represent the racial divide between black and white humans, and also mutants. Also, this time it's a musical.

So it's 3 player chess then? Who's the 3rd player, Magneto?
