So, recently, I've been on a non-schedule. I don't need to wake up particularly early, so I've been pushing back later and later the times when I go to bed, and similarly the time when I get up. It STILL doesn't matter, but it's getting kind of ridiculous at this point, and I feel like getting up earlier.

Now, I could pull a hard reset, and just not sleep tonight, but I feel like actually giving it a shot waking up on willpower alone. I think part of the reason that I keep getting up later and later is, I don't actually need to wake up early.

So, that is where y'all come in. What things are the early morning awesome for, that I should be doing?

Absolutely nothing. Mornings are bullshit.

I go to sleep at 3AM. Wake up at about 10-11. Screw mornings.

I can only think of two things.

Pretty sunrises.
Breakfast.

That's all.

On the few mornings where I'm actually awake and coherent enough to accomplish things, the feeling of having most of your daily to-do-list done by noon is pretty fucking awesome.

Thanks to Diablo 3 (and my two summer classes that aren't online starting late in the afternoon), I have gone to bed at around 5-6am the past three nights, and woken up at 1pm.

So yeah mornings suck.

But then again I like being awake while everyone else in my house is asleep because I enjoy the peace and quiet, and sleeping through half a day's worth of noise is great.

I've done this like two or three times and I'm not gonna lie, it's pretty great.

If I literally have nothing to do on that day, then it is impossible for me to get up before 11. So don't feel so bad, relax, lie in, savour the laziness.

Don't sleep. Ever.

That's when they come for you.

Waking up in the morning just gets you on schedule with most of society, there isn't anything special or fantastic about it. You should ask yourself, why are you staying up so late? Are you doing anything great & fantastic that can't be put off? Or if it's TV, can you set something to record it?

Have you tried setting an alarm, and then getting the fuck out of bed when it goes off?

From my experience, when I set an alarm it does wake me up in the morning, whereupon I promptly turn it off and go back to bed, disgusted at whatever idiotic person set the alarm in the first place.

Set up alarm clock on far side of room, so you have to get your ass out of bed to turn it off.

Already in place as implied by "go back to bed".

You could set up a vuvuzela alarm in the garden, and I'd have to put on a dressing gown and stagger outside to turn it off, and I'd still go back to bed. Probably still wearing the gown (which I've done before).

Clearly the solution is to rig potting soil to fall onto your bed. You'll need to wash your sheets frequently, however.
