So my mom is going through the recipe boxes that once belonged to my great-grandmother for a recipe for Tomato Jam to give to a friend of her's.

A few of her finds are as follows:

Scrambled Eggs for 72 people

Hotdish for 75

Potato Salad for 50

5 lbs. of Fudge (Chocolate)

Play-doh (seriously)

and Turkey Stuffing that has included 2 cups of unpopped popcorn. Quoted as follows:

You will know it is done when the popcorn blows the ass out of the turkey.

My Great-Grandma everyone!

So, anyone else got some weird or extreme recipes sitting around their place? Just curious to see if so.

Congratulations, with this thread you kicked off the Initiative For Higher Quality Robin Threads! This initiative will run for as long as it takes for your thread OPs to become less bland, as appropriate for a cooking thread, without further prompting after you post them.

To wit: that your OP right now features only the following things:

- an old kitchen joke. (http://www.snopes.com/holidays/thanksgiving/hotline.asp)
One of the more unusual questions handled by Butterball's Turkey Talk-Line (which the company has operated since 1981) comes from those who have mistaken a well-traveled joke for an actual recipe: They call to ask if they can pop popcorn in the turkey's cavity during the roasting process. (The joke's punch line is: "You know the turkey is done when the popcorn pops and blows the rear off the bird.") And no, you can't.
- a few recipe titles that, apart from the large sizes, are not the least bit weird or extreme or anything but bog-standard ordinary
- a request for others to fill your thread with actual content

It is now your task to post the recipes you named in full length, in the OP and without swap tags. You can scan them or type them out but they must be posted in such a fashion that any one of us could theoretically cook the respective dish following them. You have one week as of this post's timestamp, and you must reply to the thread saying "the recipes are now in the OP." If you fail to fulfill all the named conditions, or if all recipes turn out to be unremarkable apart from the size or also kitchen jokes, there will be A Punishment, severity depending on what exactly you fucked up.

Criteria for remarkability include unusual ingredients, cooking methods and kitchen implements, i.e. if the scrambled egg one is just "take pan, cook scrambled eggs until you have enough for 72" it's unremarkable. If they're made with saffron and you cook them on a trashbin lid, it's interesting.

Recipes to be posted:
Scrambled Eggs for 72 people

Hotdish for 75

Potato Salad for 50

5 lbs. of Fudge (Chocolate)

Play-doh (seriously)

(I'm actually legitimately interested in the cooking methods at that size and from those days, too, so take this as additional motivation. I will be disappointed if they're actually unremarkable.)

Boy Meister...you really know how to lay down a challenge. Okay, I accept. I will do it Friday as that is my day off from work. I may add even more recipes including one I know for making homemade Gak (Remember Nickelodeon Gak?) that involves 20-Mule Team Borax. ^_^

But yeah, the recipes for large numbers of people was meant for like VFW or Church Functions so access to an Industrial Kitchen with large cookware is a necessity.

Time is up!

You even had some extra because I forgot about this. Which, you know, actually put you in the position to still be able to do this after getting banned for the last three days of your time window. And what's this? Nothing?

Robin. Robin Robin Robin. You did not do a single of the things asked of you, didn't even try in fact, and the OP is still the low-effort garbage it was before. You even promised you would and accepted the challenge (not that you had a choice). I said your Punishment was going to depend on what exactly you fucked up, and you fucked up everything. Take some more time off - two days for each recipe you failed to post.

The Initiative For Higher Quality Robin Threads is not over and will continue as required.

Incidentally, in re: the thread title--making stuffing inside the turkey is actually kind of dangerous because the bird won't cook properly. You could get food poisoning :crossarms: .

I appreciate the SomethingAwful approach.

I've been a big fan of mod challenges for a while, but didn't want to be seen as a copycat.

Perhaps we should do this more often.

A proper mod challenge would have involved Robin having to cook one of those dishes, anyway.

true

And given others time to also prepare outrageous dishes with photo/video evidence and eat them, etc.
