I remember when we had a rule against starting threads just to say WOO I'M FUCKED UP. Those were good times.

Dude, really the endorphins are more than enough high, try not to top them off with too many pain meds.

Heck, I did the pain meds thing myself recently in June & got off them as soon as I felt no need for them. The endorphins in my system are only just starting to thin out & let me sleep somewhat reasonably.

Heck, I'm not entirely certain if I'm past the timeframe where it was suggested I not make any major decisions.

Of course, I've got a bit of a history & tend to OD on natural endorphins, regardless on my say in the matter. Heck, I was feeling no pain associated with my own Wisdom teeth extraction & just felt hungry. Only began to have mild discomfort when bone shards started to work out of the areas that were nearly closed up.

That was not fun.

Just had my wisdom teeth removed a few weeks back too. Those pills took waaaay too long to kick in. :/

Using teabags in place of the gauze might help you not gag on you blood if that becomes a problem.

My wisdom teeth extraction was relatively painless. I think I ate spaghetti for a couple of days, after that I just went back to regular food.

I was really delirious when I came out of surgery, though. I couldn't stop laughing. Good stuff.

Before I had my grinding plant eater teeth pulled I had my pointy meat eater teeth pulled, then holes drilled into the roof of my mouth, hooks attatched and my impacted teeth forcibly pulled down over the course of months

so yea comparatively, wisdom teeth aren't that bad

Seriously was so painful that the cotton gauze felt like rigid nylon getting jammed into my open wound

I gotta see if I can find that show online

I've had only 1 wisdom teeth out for at least 2-3 years, there's no sign the others are coming anytime soon. I'm a horrible asymmetrical monster D:

way I understand it wisdom teeth issues are so common they sometimes remove them just to get it out of the way. what they did with me, dentist said there was no way they'd come in right so might as well remove them now

I have one wisdom tooth half way grown in and a second one is peeking out under the gums.

I have two wisdom teeth that are impacted and two that are fine.

I have to extract all of them because the impacted ones are the bottom ones and so the top ones won't have a place to hit or some shit and long story short I need to get all of them out.

The problem is that, apparently, it's impossible to extract more than one at a time and it's always local anesthesia so fuck if I'm going to spend 8 weeks - 2 weeks between each extraction - in pain.

I've had two out already, one on top and one on bottom, Dentist even had to get a drill out for the bottom one, and I've never had any real pain beyond the day of the visit. Painkillers eat up a lot of that pain rather well and the day after I don't feel a thing.

This is on local as well.

I have a friend with several impacted tooth and, they've been taking them out one by one. I have no idea why though.

They took all 4 of mine out. Took 9 goddamn tries before they got the IV in. I had bruises on my hands where the needles went in. I have small veins according according to the guy who did it.

I didnt really feel dizzy or loopy or anything after it was done. I barely noticed it happened actually. The lady got me to stand up and I was thinking "but don't we need to do the surgery?" Then I noticed the gauze in my mouth and once the numbing wore off about an hour or two later I felt the bleeding. Hurt like a bitch the first day.

I always assume oral surgeons who use local anesthetic and take them out one at a time are somehow making more money than the ones who knock you out and take out all four. This is possibly just part of my general mistrust of dentists, though.

As it is, if there is more than one oral surgeon in your area you might want to get a second opinion. Maybe some other dude would look at them and go, "Oh, yeah, we can get all four out in one go."

I had all four of my wisdom teeth removed last February. Really, the worst thing for me was getting the IV. I kind of made myself panic into near-hyperventilation because needles freak me out and I had been dreading it for the whole week. Once the IV was in, I magically calmed down and was like, "Okay, yeah, whatever, make with the anesthesia so we can get this over with. Pull teeth, do whatever you need to, I don't care. The worst part is over."

Here's wishing you a speedy and painless recovery, EVILNess! And do be careful with the painkillers.

I had my wisdom teeth removed not long after they came in. Apparently the top two were coming in sideways...? Not sure.

I distinctly recall three things that happened that day.

One: When numbing me up for the operation, they missed the first time.

Two: Sleepy-gas smells like eggs.

Three: Staggering to the getaway vehicle and taking minimal pain meds while my mouth healed over the next week.

I got the good shit from my dentists, both in the pain meds and in the operation.

I'm missing an adult tooth, just to the side of my front teeth. The baby came in just fine, but there was nothing under it. So I had to get a falsie.

Also was in adult braces for a little over a year, since previous dentists just capped the baby tooth.

That just means you're a less evolved savage then!

Mine haven't started yet, apparantly they appear between ages 17 and 25, so I've got another year to go yet before they might erupt. Though judging by how long it took me to get all my others coming through I may just have really slow movers.

I'm getting surgery about three weeks from now, and I'm not sure how many wisdom teeth they're aiming for. Try to freak me out with your horror tales all you like, it can't be worse than the two years of slowly worsening pain from all corners of my face that I've had.

To clear it up: No dentists in my city extract more than one wisdom tooth per time. It's to get money.

i had all of mine out over the span of two weeks. doc pulled the top two out with local (fuck dental needles) and we had to schedule the other two for oral surgery.

Holy fuck did my mouth bleed, and I had weak shitty pain meds (no vicodin for ecks) so I was in constant agony for about three weeks, then my folks took away my last two pills saying I was going to get addicted.

Uh huh, sure, how do you get addicted to something that doesnt fucking work?

I went though half a bag of cheese sticks, once I got home. Only took a single oxy cot, after a bit of wheedling.

Of course, I'm no stranger to pain, trust me, you don't want the details, just know a bite bar was involved & I could just be acclimated to extreme pain.

You might think I am lying about this, but I have spent the last few minutes reading this thread thinking "Oh wow, a thread about wisdom teeth! How fitting for me" until I looked at the OP and saw it was me.

Err, I don't remember posting that, and I am sorry if there are actually rules against posting like was mentioned on the first page. I am going to skulk away now, and hope an inappropriate post was all I did.

I don't think there are any current rules, as I couldn't find anything regarding it, but there might have been past rules that were ultimately discarded.

At least, that's what I assume Meister's post was saying.
