Edit: I guess this should've been posted in the discussion forum? *shrug*

Man I reckon we should get Obama to come here. I have some literature he should read.

Appears that it's already over; he's gone home for dinner.

Obama goes to NPF would probably make political history.

Then I'd go change my alias and reroute my IP address.

Professor Smarmiarty

Well yes, Obama writing in mandatory adoption and taking state control of church to use as child rearing services in lieu of back taxes would be political history

I hear Obama has an Autographed version of the first Atomic Robo comic!

How do you balance family life and hobbies with, well, being the POTUS?

[–]PresidentObamaObama[S] 1965 points 4 hours ago
It's hard - truthfully the main thing other than work is just making sure that I'm spending enough time with michelle and the girls. The big advantage I have is that I live above the store - so I have no commute! So we make sure that when I'm in DC I never miss dinner with them at 6:30 pm - even if I have to go back down to the Oval for work later in the evening. I do work out every morning as well, and try to get a basketball or golf game in on the weekends just to get out of the bubble. Speaking of balance, though, I need to get going so I'm back in DC in time for dinner. But I want to thank everybody at reddit for participating - this is an example of how technology and the internet can empower the sorts of conversations that strengthen our democracy over the long run. AND REMEMBER TO VOTE IN NOVEMBER - if you need to know how to register, go to Gottaregister.com. By the way, if you want to know what I think about this whole reddit experience - NOT BAD!

Too late for that, my man. (http://nuklearforums.com/member.php?u=45480)

This is the change I promised America.

Too bad a lot of the responses were cookie-cutter campaign statements, but that said, this was a campaign event so I can't say I'm surprised. At least it seemed like randoms got their questions answered and not necessarily just astroturfs.

Wait, was he saying that they're thinking of a manned mission to a asteroid?

Bells
08-29-2012, 10:56 PM
Probably just a talking point... but they did land on mars during his administration. If Curiosity pays off, a manned mission would be the next step anyway... considering that Curiosity's mission was a 2 year deal, a manned mission would likely be under his second term...

This is sort of what I was thinking. Like, obviously anything non-controversial like talking about family life and stuff is probably pretty genuine, but I doubt there's anything revealing or politically interesting at all in that thread.

Someone that leads the country must have perfect grammar. Always.

It bugged me, reading his responses, to see more or less proper comma use and abbreviation, capital letters for the first words in sentences, and the like but then a failure to capitalize proper nouns, such as Afghanistan, consistently. I mean, overall, his posts appeared to be well-written like you'd expect from an educated, literate English speaker, but they were peppered with little faults. Tthen I wondered if that was just another aspect of the fishing-for-votes vibe I got from all of this. "Hey, he makes mistakes when typing on the Intertubes like us! Hoorjayflakes!"

Still, it's pretty neat that our President sat down to answer questions somewhat in real time on Reddit, crashed the site for a little bit as a result, and even referenced his own meme.

Seems like all the questions answered were basically fluff questions, not much to write home about.

Well, it is a general policy when it comes to elections to not actually let people know your platform. You can't get criticized if people don't know what you stand for.

I can't imagine why anyone would assume he'd tackle tough questions on Reddit, regardless of the "ask me anything" trend there.

It's worth noting that he ...

He's still a politician.

yeah, that.

I wasn't, but fluff responses aren't really worth discussing and i don't think any one should be satisfied with that. Mind you he did let slip some discussion about a potential manned mission but unless that comes with a huge budget jump for nasa we are talking about a huge removal in scientific mission capacity.

It is worth discussing for him because a lot of people aren't really basing their votes anymore on platform as much as who they like better as a human being. For example if I stare half heartedly at threads here I get minor knee jerk impressions of this: Obama exercises, eats dinner with his wife and children, works overtime, and answers questions on Reddit. Mitt Romney dodges on his taxes.

HE MAY BE A LIBERAL-EAST-COST-MUSLIM-TERRORIST.

BUT HE PUTS HIS PANTS ON ONE LEG AT TIME, JUST LIKE THE REST OF US.

I'M NOT REALLY SURE WHAT THE PUNCHLINE IS HERE, BUT TYPING IN CAPS FELT RIGHT.

HE MAY KILL A LOT OF PEOPLE, BUT HE WON THE NOBEL PEACE PRIZE ANYWAY.

Professor Smarmiarty
08-31-2012, 10:18 AM
That's pretty much a requirement to win the peace prize.
Also re policies: I don't think anyone like nobama either but the Romster is easy to make fun of and also actually has no real policies just wild speculations and claims which make no sense so you have to make fun of his person.

I THINK THE REQUIREMENT IS THAT WHEN YOU KILL THEM YOU HAVE TO LOOK LIKE YOU'RE NOT ENJOYING IT. SOME POLITICIANS CAN'T HANDLE THAT KIND OF PRESSURE.

I THINK WILLARD ROMNINGTON THE THIRD MADE A LOT OF SENSE WHEN HE SAID WE HAD TO FIRE OBAMA AND SAVE AMERICA, THOUGH.

(okay, okay. Reince Preibus said that. No, really, he actually said, "we have to fire Obama and save America.")

Collaborating and giving the UN stamp of approval to apartheid South African murder of Namibian indepedence seeker counts in my books.
Man the father of one of my best friends was nearly murdered in that particular indepedence.

I was going to post a picture of Kissinger's droopy-ass fish/bulldog face and be all "Does this motherfucker look like he enjoys anything" but god-damn are there a lot of pictures of him smiling.

Considering who he got to sleep with despite that face, that is not a surprise. Dude probably had to fight 24/7 to keep a dopey ass grin off his face.

I assume you mean Henry Kissinger. I'm familiar with the name, but I don't know the face. So I looked him up on wikipedia...

http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/7325/kissinger.jpg

Is that right? That Kissinger? If that's what he looked like I think it's impressive that there were women in his life at all. Kissinger must be a really fantastic individual and she such a loving person.

E: Further research yielded that the image in the article is actually that of elephant dung. Is Kissinger a piece of shit? I don't know man. I'm too lazy to read the Wikipedia article, so far I was content with just knowing his name had something to do with some US presidents, but now I'm intrigued.

E2: To clarify, I did not edit that article to feature elephant dung instead of Kissinger's face.

Yeah, the only websites I could find mentioning it are super far right wack job sites using it as insult against Kissinger, Reagan, etc.
