I saw this listed in Yahoo and read it. Sharing it with you guys. Put it here in General as I felt it was the safest place to put it.
Real-life Anime Girl: Anastasiya Shpagina’s Bizarre Make-up Tutorial (http://shine.yahoo.com/beauty/real-life-anime-girl-anastasiya-shpagina-8217-bizarre-172400323.html)
I think this: While I adore anime and yes, I have anime girl crushes...this girl is down right creepy and ugly to me. It's a good makeup job, don't get me wrong. But the problem is the body modification she has had done already and wants done in the future. I'm betting Moka and Kurumu don't weigh in at 90 lbs nor are their waists that small.
So seriously guys, tell me what you think.

There are fans, and then there are the zealots.
This person, I think surpasses the "Zealot" factor.
That's a pretty impressive makeup job. As for body modification, if I start down the trans-humanism rabbit-hole, we'll be here forever. Suffice to say, that's not the oddest thing I've seen or heard of people doing to modify their bodies.

Burn them witches, yo. Why'd they stop doing that anyway? Burning people for no reason is the best thing to do.
Well okay, we could burn them for being different. That's almost as great.

I don't really see what the problem is. Yeah, it looks strange, but what does it matter to me?
She does not look like an unhealthy weight. Check google images search- in every photo she looks like she's simply lean, but not unhealthily skinny. Here (http://images.franchiseherald.com/data/images/full/1774/real-life-anime-girl-anastasiya-shpagina.jpg?w=600) is a good example. That's not someone with a (visible) illness. 90 pounds -is- light, but if you're a short person that might be within a normal weight range for you. She's wearing a waist cincher in the article you linked, which may cause problems IF worn constantly, but she's not even wearing the cincher in the majority of her photos.
That does not mean she might not have an eating disorder, since EDs can vary in their intensity depending on how strict the person is with themselves. However there is no reason to assume by simply looking at her that there's a problem. You cannot know what someone's health is like by simply looking at them. I know no one brought up EDs specifically but it seems like they were gonna come up eventually so.
I poked around for articles about her surgery and nothing turned up except that she wants surgery in the future but hasn't had any so far. Anyways, if she does want to have surgery why aren't we blaming the cosmetic surgery industry? If she wants eye surgery why aren't we talking about how western standards of beauty are used throughout the world to shame women about their bodies if they're not thin and white and have european features in order to sell them unnecessary products and procedures?

I think you miss my point Poch.
My issue is that she seems addicted to wanting to look like this. It doesn't look healthy or right. It has nothing to do with my standards on how a woman should look.
Also, she wants to look like a girl out of an anime, that is a far cry from anything European.

Define healthy.
Define right.
I don't like how she looks, but if that's the way she wants to look I see no reason to judge her for that.

It doesn't look [...] right.
And I don't think a yahoo blog entry with highly questionable sourcing standards is quite the right foundation to determine whether someone's addicted to anything.

Your right, it isn't. Maybe she isn't addicted to it. But her words do make me wonder about her.
"I'm not a like a doll, a doll is like me," she writes on her vk.com (a European version of Facebook) page.
Now, could this be attention getting? Maybe.
She says she would like to one day have surgery to reshape her eyes and nip in her waist even more drastically.
I love seeing cosplay in action. There are cosplayers famous for looking like the characters they go out in costume as.
The issue I've got is how this looks. But then again, it could just be my personal opinion and asking me to define it is a trap I will NOT walk into.

People's opinions should get away from other people's bodies and/or lifestyles.
If she is not hurting anyone or endangering anyone it is not our business.

So then, what would be your thought seeing this girl in front of you walking down the street? Go on and be honest.

Can you explain to me why my opinion of someone else's body matters at all?
When I see people on the street I think, hey, that's a person. Yep. That's a person with their own business, business that is not mine. We're all people with our own business, and when we mind our own business and are polite to other people then we're all happy. Because our bodies are not anyone else's business.
So then, what would be your thought seeing this girl in front of you walking down the street? Go on and be honest.Honest opinion? "Hey, that's pretty neat!"

I have my serious pants on now, I don't trap people with them on.
If you think I'm trying to lure you into a trap, and that's just speculation, you might be pretty sure that I don't like what you have to say, which by itself doesn't make what you say wrong. Especially by my definition of right and wrong as meaningless words when it comes to morality.
As for being "healthy", if one is happy with themselves, that's healthy, if not, then it would be a good idea to try and change that.
Your turn now? No need to, really. Just don't call it a trap.

You started your answering my question by asking two questions. You also seem to forget we humans are geared to making judgements on how someone or something looks by evolution itself.
I would think you are trying to avoid the issue and also may have judgement issues of your own but again, my opinion.
Let's rephrase. What was you first thought seeing these pictures? Anyone care to be up front and honest about that?
EDIT: Also, Tev gets rep for me fro actually DOING what I asked and answering my question.

You already defined it though. In your first post you said she looks downright creepy and ugly. It's fine to think someone looks ugly or creepy but I don't see any point in starting a thread to gawk at someone for it.
Hey let's put people's bodies under microscopes and criticize them for it! Yeah! Wooh! I love that shit! I love people telling me what's wrong with my body!

Just because you disagree with someone's opinion doesn't mean they are being dishonest.

1. Evolutionary psychology is BULLSHIT.
2. I already gave you my honest answer. If you think it's impossible for someone to not care about someone else's body you need to re-evaluate yourself.

I'm glad for the weirdos too.
And yes, she does not look healthy to me. I might revise the creepy thing if I ever got a chance to talk to her and I would like a picture of what she looks like before she does all this that I can verify as her. So far this is the closest:

Now see, I think the gal on the left looks better. If any of us can find any other before and after pics, I would like to see them.

From an article about what Evolutionary Psychology is:
Evolutionary psychology (EP) is an approach in the social and natural sciences that examines psychological traits such as memory, perception, and language from a modern evolutionary perspective. It seeks to identify which human psychological traits are evolved adaptations – that is, the functional products of natural selection or sexual selection. Adaptationist thinking about physiological mechanisms, such as the heart, lungs, and immune system, is common in evolutionary biology. Some evolutionary psychologists apply the same thinking to psychology, arguing that the mind has a modular structure similar to that of the body, with different modular adaptations serving different functions. Evolutionary psychologists argue that much of human behavior is the output of psychological adaptations that evolved to solve recurrent problems in human ancestral environments.[1]
Problem is that we all use the same genetic code pretty much. Let's go over how many genes we got in common with certain animals. (http://www.eupedia.com/forum/showthread.php?25335-Percentage-of-genetic-similarity-between-humans-and-animals)
So is it not even remotely possible for behaviors to be programmed genetically to?

Do we really need a thread wherein we analyze some random woman's body and speculate about her physical and/or mental health and gawk at her?
Seriously, what is this shit? What is this thread? It was terrible from the get go. This disgusts me. You are passing judgement based on someone's body.
Your body policing bullshit can fuck off to the moon.
Edit: It doesn't matter if you think she looks better a different way. IT DOESN'T MATTER. IT'S NOT YOUR BODY.

I actually didn't post this to police her body. I was just asking how far is too far for doing something and if this was too far. I stated my opinion already but I have no desire to enforce it on her.
YOU on the other hand seem to want to enforce your belief that I don't get to have an opinion and that my opinion is wrong and hence in error. All because you seem to have huge issues with judgement.
Pocheros, YOU are in error. An opinion is neither right nor is it wrong. It is just someone's beliefs based on their experience in life. Can it be changed based on information? Yes but that person must be willing to change. I stated I might change my mind if was able to meet this girl in public and talk to her.
Could you say the same about me if you met me?

This shit doesn't belong here, Robin. THAT IS THE ISSUE. That is the problem. There should be no "How far is too far" because it really isn't anyone's goddamn business at all to be speculating and analyzing. That. Shit. Is. CREEPY.

There are so many members on NPF that I can't help but wonder how someone who does not fit into narrow minded notions of bodily ideals feels about the attitude that someone's body is up for discussion. It just drips of entitlement.
There are people here with visible illnesses, there are people here who are visible minorities, there are people here with so many different kinds of bodies, and people have to deal with body policing bullshit in real life all the damn time. People have to deal with other people treating them differently because of preconceived notions about their appearance. This is wrong. This is fucked up. This does not belong here.
And it is creepy as shit too.

Thread closed while I wait on the mod staff to sort through it as people have this tendency to blow up, continue blowing up, and then we lose members. Again.

This thread was in poor taste but I don't really think it was bannably so.
Closably so with a reprimand to not make this kind of thread in the future with a possible hint at banning if the trend continues to continue, I guess is what I'm getting at.
