I don't know about you people, but I have been having the week from hell. Barely any sleep, the sleep I have been getting have been stress-induced semi-nightmares about all the work that I need to do, and I've been becoming more and more miserable to be around as the week continues to happen, past the weekend.

I've got, at most, four more days of this week from hell. Likely, it will be two more days, and then things will have lightened up entirely. Any suggestions as to how to make them more bearable, or at bare minimum, how to make me more bearable to be around until these days are over? I dislike being grumpy.

Avoid looking at a the imposing all this needs to be done's I've learned to force myself to look at the smaller manageable 'micro-goals' that add up to the need dones. Has really helped with my stress these last two years of college and work.

That and a combination of that rainymood site while listening to ambient peaceful calm shit like Karunesh and the like.

Even if one doesnt ha e time to commit to somethin like meditation even somethin like breahing techniques helps me a lot when the stress or grumps move in.
Actively thinking on the subject of absolutely nothing sometimes yields interesting results with stress.

Psssh I been homeless and 100% broke for 6 months, had my passport and viva data stolen by someone in the UK Border Agency, police won't let you file a report if you homeless, dealt with the UKBA who are a mathmatically worse beaurcracy than found in the trial (not even kidding- I can prove this), and I still polite to you dicks (being banned from two forums notwithstanding because both of those were for being too polite). Harden upppppppppppppppppp.

But I don't have a passport- I'm just waiting for an emergency travel visa which will only allow me to travel to NZ.

Man Smarty, I've been homeless for a couple of weeks but now I have an apartment. Just come to me, you can crash here. I have a spare mattress. Doesn't look nice yet though, so you might have to pay by helping me move in a couch and a table maybe. We can also decorate the place if you feel up for it. I'll also share my booze with you. But I do mean share. We're gonna get equal parts.

These are all pretty good suggestions; it may also help you to focus on the fact that this shit will be over soon and after that, you can engage in whatever relaxing activity you have your heart set on. Sometimes it's good just to remember that the end is in sight!

Oh, butts, SO reminded me that there's a thread topic.

rpgdemon, I'm gonna second SO's suggestion that you think about what wonderful things you can do when you're done, like sleeping or playing video games. Psychological studies indicate that having a reward to look forward to makes an arduous task less stressful, so think about how you're going to reward yourself when you're done and things will be less awful than if you don't. Decide on a reward, maybe. If you don't like calling it a "reward," call it a "de-stress-ifier" or something.

And Smarty needs to conquer New Sheepland with his years of studying abroad.

What if I grow out my beard, get a new passport, mail it to you and then you can come over here. When they ask why you don't sound like an American Southerner, just say you spent a long time so you went native but are glad to be back in freedom. I'll include a cheat sheet of American things like the pledge so that you can fool security. It cannot fail.

But yeah, lots of people have swam the English channel. You could totally get a boat and sail to Germany. Germany is just an intricate system of rivers anyways. Every town is next to one.

Edit: Try to avoid France. They are worse to the homeless. I try to sleep on one park bench and they spend the night shouting at me in German. How does that even work?

Yeah, I'm almost through, and that is working well to sort of de-stress*. I also bought myself a box of the new Magic set, and I've been giving myself the reward of opening a booster pack, whenever I finish working on something, which is a little thing that helps keep things a bit brighter.

I have also learned something new, today. Apparently, when I am super stressed or whatever, I am amazing at Rock Band Blitz. I sat down and played it for a bit today, and was surprised at how much better I was than when I had last played it.

*I say stressed, but it's more that I'm just exhausted, and have had so much work that needed to be done, for so long. It's been a non-stop pile of work to do for the past few weeks now, and it's just draining. Throwing in little things to break it up is really the only way it's not absolutely miserable.

Thanks for all the suggestions, y'all!

I was stressed for about a year, because I had a horrible asshole for a store manager, and my department and assistant department managers were not much better. But I transfered to another store and things are a lot better. There are still stressful days, but it is normal stress and I do not dread going into work every day. I still would like to settle things with that asshole though, maybe someday I will. ;)

They feed you at gitmo right? Sounds pretty good.
And I reckon I'll get on with some muslim terrorists- we'll disagree on some pretty major issues but we got even more to agree upon.
