Words arose before forms of writing which suggests that they are merely symbolic representations belonging to the symoblic Real rather than the real Real. That's a criticism of the time period though and not the individual thinkers themselves. And Kant was pretty central to the development of progressivism and moral progress which lead directly to the feminist/civil rights movements. Despite his individual views he was actual central to the movements of progress. Which actually happens a lot. NZ were the first country to give women the vote despite none of the cabinet actually wanting to do this and basically everyone just played chicken with each other and nobody blinked.
Like I hate all historical figures more than all of you put together but we can still examine them in the context of their time and in their contributions to development and anyone who removes Kant from the progress of civil rights is frankly deluded or simply trying to fluff up their own academic credentials by being all like "hey look I can discredit a thinker from 200 hundred years"- no shit, even the most enlightened thinker back then would be a huge bigot today. He was wildely read by progress campaigns and provided them language to talk about their movement.

I mean he was no Hegel or Marx who basically took his ideas and stripped out all the shit bits you are picking up on but that is about the progress of the time.
And also the "great thinker" idea of history is whig bullshit and completely nonsense, in that its societal progress, the great morass and not great thinkers that bring about major changes in thought/science/invention/war etc and thus Kant could be removed with out critically impairing the progress of enlightenment but the fact was he was there and he did contribute and people did take inspiration from him.
