Specifically, does anyone know of a good, relatively cheap pair?

It's annoyingly hard to find a good review anywhere, because most people buy them for their fucking steampunk costumes.

Well... usually welding masks are much more high specs and tend to be more expensive (and cool looking) but if all you want are some decent welding goggles, you can get those relatively cheap at ebay.

On the safet side of things, you need to know what type of welding you are going to do to know what type of goggles to get.

For example, Gas Welding usually requires the lenses to be of shades 5~8. But Carbon-Arc welding is going to request a flat 14 shade to actually protect your eyes.

Usually going higher is just better, but since higher shades also means darker tint, if you are just using very low power welding with a really high grade spec, your vision will be highly compromised and that is just going to make your welding work suck...

One that i did saw that i think it's awesome and practical is this one

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Bolle-Blast-Shade-5-Welding-Safety-Goggles-BLVG-Visor-BLAWPCC5-/160912368843?pt=UK_BOI_ProtectiveGear_RL&hash=item25771fe4cb

it IS a bit on the expensive side... but it is very confortable, the mask is detachable and the shade grading is a cool 5, which will give you solid protecting to pretty much anything short of auto-shop work.

You can get it a lot cheaper (under 10 bucks actually) but you should always look at a shade level between 5-10 on the product, in a range between $10-$40 .

Thanks! I'll take a look into those and see if I can find a pair that doesn't charge for international shipping.
