View Full Version : What Do You Want To Happen To Your Remains After You Die?
So there's this company, Heaven's Above Fireworks, (http://www.heavensabovefireworks.com/) and they can take your ashes after you're cremated and put it into a firework.

I've always loved fireworks. I can't remember a time that I haven't. So I think that when I die, there's going to be a lovely - short - service, everybody's going to drive to a bar and sit on the patio, and watch some fireworks go off.
...Recently, a family friend has passed away. He didn't leave any wants or wishes in his will as to what should be done with his body, but my older brother seemed to remember him saying that he wanted his ashes to be planted with a tree.
So there's this company called BioUrns. (https://urnabios.com/)
But as a real, honest question, what do you want done with... you after you pass on? Will you leave a video message to your loved ones? (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R4vkVHijdQk) Will you act on everything you won't have time to do? (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/04/01/wedding-girl-father-cancer_n_5071465.html) What do you want?

I hope to be stored cryonically if at all possible. I have a pretty hefty life insurance right now that would more than pay for the needs of that along with giving my family like another couple hundered thousand to remember me by. I know there is a high chance that I won't be able to come back from my first death even after being frozen, but I'd like to at least leave my body someplace where it has a chance.

I have signed to donate my remains for medical research and organ transplants. If there's any leftovers, I hope to convince my family to burn it and spread the ashes in the most ancient forest they can find. We have some around here that have grown untouched by human hands since before the iron age; being in such places is my jam.

I too plan to have my remains donated to science. I would also like to have a small headstone/plaque somewhere with a witty epitaph.

I'd probably do something simple like cremation or donation to medicine/science...
Although I do recall some sort of service that turns bodies into gems... (http://www.lifegem.com/secondary/whatisLG2006.aspx)
My plan is to be formed into a precious gem and later pawned off for booze and drug money by my descendants.

It occurred to me in the last few hours that what remains of me probably won't be very eco-friendly. I wouldn't want anything to get sick from eating me, so I'd like to change my answer to mummified and used to frighten children at Halloween.

I've heard that the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland has had problems with people trying to sneak cremated remains of loved ones into the ride, so the deceased can become the 1000th spirit in the mansion ("We have nine hundred and ninety nine happy haunts here. But there's room for a thousand! Any takers?"). They have to close the ride and do hazmat cleanup whenever they suspect someone's spreading ashes in the ride.
So if I can't spend the afterlife at Disneyland, I'll modify Bard's suggestion and have my remains interred in the center of a forest maze, in some kind of cool shrine. As time goes by and the plants grow, it'll just get cooler and more mystical looking. Bonus points if there are stone monuments scattered through the maze carved with strange symbols and encoded messages to freak people out. Archaeologists will discover the complex centuries later and wonder what purpose this place must have served and argue over who was buried there. Maybe I'll have my cremains interred with the fossilized shark tooth I found at the beach or a laminated document written in a dead language, just to screw with archaeologists.

Very easy to say. When I know I am going to die, this is what will happen. I am being strapped into a very large chair with a ton of rockets and fireworks attached. Than they will be set off.
