Stupid unsolicited spam-bots invading another forum.

Stupid DoS (even if incidental instead of purposeful).

Stupid complaining about an entire 'nother country 'cause a (very limited) selection of individuals from said country (who are probably not representative of the people there) are giving me and others a first world problem.

Clearly, everything is North Korea's fault, as a person.

This was mostly my way of expressing exasperation of First-World-Problems.

In a different Forum I frequent (at Paizo.com - the message boards there), we've been having terrible problems with (North) Korean spammers to the point where entire subforums would suddenly have nothing but spam for a few unsecured gambling sites.

(Very repetitive and boring spam at that.)

It was slowing down the site in certain places and making it hard to find anything, and reporting the creeps was a pain (the mods were well aware and were taking steps to stop them, but there were a loooot of them).

Immediately as a new wave was starting today, said website crashed. Seemed strongly correlated, and was frustrating timing as this was "my time" that I had to post there relatively freely (and it took a very large post I'd been working on for a PbP with it).

Anyway, it's fixed now, and the shut down wasn't even caused by said spammers anyway! (According to the mod team, when I asked.)

Hence the very self-sarcasm-laden complaint about what is, at best, a minor and very "first world" type problem. :)

(I do not actually have any problem with North Korea as a person because, aside from one anime, it's probably not. ;D)

I dont know about that, while mere inconvenience is a "first world problem" I think its a legit complaint when its caused by people actively trying to scam people out of their money. I guess another way to say that is, forum lag is a minor issue, a forum (or anywhere) filled with individuals trying to swindle others out of their cash is an actual issue to complain about

I suppose you're correct, but the spam is so blatant and so oppressively obvious about it, it's hard to fathom how people would ever follow it.

1) It's in Korean on an American site that has all-English speakers.
2) It is literally nothing but repetitive copy/paste sets of words with the website in it
3) It boiled down to "gamble here!" a lot in several different ways

It's... seriously hard to imagine people falling for that.

You are correct that an attempt to scam people out of their finances (or, worse, their identity) is extremely serious and can cause great harm, psychologically, if nothing else.

My problem wasn't that. I would never - and I can't imagine anyone from those boards would ever - go there or test them out. My problem was that I was slightly inconvenienced by bad spamming.

Hence an (attempted) comical overreaction to my problem. (Which, as it turns out, they weren't the source of anyway.)

But yeah, doing bad things to people's very, very bad.
