My favorite has to be Fighter. lol He does sound stupid at times, but he also has his moments of smartness, which ARE SOOO FUNNY!

He's also the most kick-ass. OK so Thief may have his skills and BM may have his hadoken, but when it comes down to serious ass-kicking it's always Fighter that does it. :p

Black Mage comes close though... but if you look closely a large part of the comic revolves around him, so no DUH he's everyone's favorite. ^_^ But Fighter is more stupid and to me he's always there on the funniest parts of 8BT.

1) Black mages have allways been my favorite look for a character in Final Fantasy games.
2) If he didn't need 3 meat shields, he'd have Hadokened those bums to heck and back when they stayed in Corneria's Inn.
3) Ain't nothing like a good old stabbity fit of rage to go with your morning coffee.
4) His look is easily copied in a MMO that I play that ISN'T Final Fantasy 11 (can't say it's name due to non-square-enix affiliation and I don't want to be banned, but mods can ask me what I mean... though I'm sure they know what game has the right hat :P)
5) Spitting out your own organs as an attack against a rage turtle is the easiest and smartest way to win!

I'm always thorn between the entirety of Black Mage's character and Thief's cunning, underhanded, business practices. It's like the 8-Bit Universe strictly follows contract and legal laws to a point that they are effective for Thief.

As for Black Mage, he's pure awesome. He's an amalgam of all things evil.
His folly is that it sometimes backfires on him, or it just doesn't work out for him.

Gotta love how his Hadouken is powered by love, he sacrificed orphan children to get it, and every time he shoots the thing, the divorce rates go up.

Fighter, for 3 simple reasons.

1) He uses SWORD-CHUCKS!
2) MEDOKEN! ('nuff said)

Thief > BM because Thief knows how to be moral in order to get things easier from others.
Thief > RM because Thief's intellect is a lot more, percentage wise, appliable to the situation.
Thief > Fighter because Thief's mobility is equal to Fighter's armor, Thief's daggerwork is slightly more efficient than Fighter's mindless slashing, and Thief has skills beyond these things, whereas Fighter just has a friendship based solely on abuse.
Thief > WM because Thief doesn't let archaic concepts like morals stop him from getting what he wants.
Thief > BB because he is smarted and has knives instead of lumps of flesh.
Thief > Garland because Garland's an idiot.
Thief > Bikke for the same reason as Garland.
Thief > EPS because Thief is a male elf and EPS is a female human. Elves are pretty much superior to humans and the entire 8BT world seems to be sexist against females.

BM is one of the easiest to pick because hes had the most spot light attention, plus he's the easiest to keep going more and more evil with. I reckon the others are harder to work as well with and get less attention and popularity because of that :p

I voted a long time ago, but I never commented so here I go:
I voted for everyone but White Mage, but in retrospect I don't think I should've voted for Sara and maybe Black Belt/Bikke/Thief. (This is not to say I don't like these characters, I just should've narrowed it down to my all-time favorites.) My top 3 would have to be:

1. King Steve
2. Black Mage / Fighter (Is it just me or does Fighter have the best momments/lines in the whole comic when they visit Cardia for the first time?)
3. Red Mage

Left Hand Man Gary, Garland, the Fiends, and the Doom Cultists (mostly because I like Illithids/mindflayers) would also be somewhere up there.
Out of the 3 I'm not sure whether to regret or not, I would rank them Thief>Bikke>BB.

Out of the 4 main groups of 4 (eh, I'll throw the gods in there, too), I would say:
Light: BM/Fighter > RM > Thief
Dark: Garland > Bikke > Vilbert > Drizz'l
Other: Berserker > Cleric > Rouge > Ranger
Fiends: Lich > Ur > Kary
Gods: Swordopolis > Bahamut/Raven > Darko

Whoh. Just occured to me I voted but never actually posted here.

I like all the characters, but ever since I started reading 8BT years ago, I've had a strong attachment to Fighter. He's the classic lovable doofus and it's that cheerful ignorance and bountiful idealism that make him so endearing. <3 I also love how he manages to provoke some of the comic's most ridiculous dialogue (he's the perfect boke to BM's tsukkomi.)

White mage was my other choice. I can't quite put my finger on why I like her... I suppose, if for nothing else, I admire her ability to stay rational under the conditions she's all-too-often subjected to. She's the voice of reason character, despite her voice rarely being heeded. XD

Well, I don't know much on this subject, but the bag of holding most probably is like a smaller pocket dimension. So long as the gate between dimensions was closed, (i.e. the top of the bag) then the ice couldn't escape.

It's not supposed to make sense, just be funny. Though sometimes having a fanboy in the comic getting stabbed or blown up or something wouldn't be a bad thing (case in point, thiscomicsucks did it by setting one on fire, kicking another in the crotch, etc.. friggin' hilarious stuff)

Thief. Because he's brilliant! Though I think I liked him a little better before his class change, when all his power depended entirely on manipulation, contracts, stealth, running away in tough situation, law ninjas, and he wasn't really any good at fighting.

It's a though choice between him and Black Mage though (and I love all four of them!); I think BM is the only for which I would keep reading the comic if all the others vanished, and there's something weirdly soothing and upcheering in reading about his random violence. It's really good against depression! In any case, parts centred on both him and Thief tend to be my favourites.

Earlier I liked really much White Mage/ Black Belt team and I like healers and martial artist characters usually but BB was wind up dead so he can´t be that great.

Wouldn't the honor of biggest liar go to Thief? Practically everything he does has a hidden agenda. How about giving RM fake memories, the blanket "yes, it is" and "no, it isn't" clauses in the Light Warriors' contracts, initially hiding his elven heritage, and secretly plotting with Drizz'l to kill their current teams? Thief > BM because Thief knows how to be moral in order to get things easier from others.
Thief > RM because Thief's intellect is a lot more, percentage wise, appliable to the situation.
