The Serial Experiments Lain creators are working on a new psychological anime. I thought that might interest you. No official release date yet, though. Manga should start showing up sometime next month.
EDIT: It's called Despera. Apparently it's set in Japan in 1922* and is about a 14 year old girl named Ain** who knows no science stuff but builds cool machines or something.
