Hey, if you do catch a Caterpie/Metapod/Butterfree, can you name him/her The Monarch?

Speaking from experience, getting a Caterpie and training it to lv. 10 is about the easiest way to be Brock. Unless there's been a change, Charmander is the hardest to start with because of a disadvantage at the first two gyms, and no particular advantage against Lt. Serge. You don't really get going with fire until Erica and Koga.

And, as discussed, the point is moot because Fire Red allows Charmander to learn Metal Claw at level 13. So really, with a team of Charmander, Butterfree and Mankey, it'd be pretty damn hard not to win against Brock in Fire Red.

[Edit] Also, I'm going to go ahead and request Cubone because he is just all around badass. He knows you aren't cool enough to see his face. And not every Pokemon can have their attacks turned into innuendo.

as a starter i would say go with Charmander. He is almost broken as a starter until you get about 1/4 into the game. Then he justs becomes overpowered.

Bulbasaur because I never see him used anymore.

As said, Bulbasaur is my own personal favorite, but then I know Charmander is the clear winner.

You've gotta get a Magikarp and evolve it. It only takes a few hours....
