well, he did sa you could get up to 3 skills besides what you get with the class skills
|
I believe I gave you all 3 skills to add to your school skills. Should I put in a crash course of ettiquette. After all, the scorpion are very adept at politics and socializing, and I will expect you to not bring shame to the clan.
|
Ah, I forgot about selecting three other skills.
About etiquette: is it more than just speaking? 'Cause my character can't talk at all. EDIT: Nevermind, I got it all done now. I hope. |
no there are other things. mainly it's ways we use ettiquette to trap our opponents

Well, considering how many of us already have Sleight of Hand, I'll trade in mine for the Etiquette. Hopefully, that's the last I'll have to do with my profile.

well as a shinobi, it's better if you're not seen, calligraphy might help more than escape, because you can't speak, and can't write either, so you're kind of useless as a spy.
Lesson 1: The Bath. The Scorpion clan offers guests a bath to cleanse themselves of the filth of the road. The guest will be escorted by a servant of their host to a bathing facility where hot water will be drawn. This is a power play. The guest will realize that they are unarmed, naked and alone, with a potential assassin, after all the scorpion are known to kill their enemies quietly. This sense of vulnerability is what the scorpion want. They want their "guests" to know that at any moment the scorpion can sting. |
Lesson 2: Gifts
In rokugan the appropriate etiquete is to refuse a gift twice. A gift giver will offer a gift three times, the gift given is expected to be humbly refused twice, and if they refuse a third time they have insulted the gift giver. The scorpion know that this ceremony is useful in that it can used to publically beholden someone to you by offering them a gift. If they accept they are in your debt, and you can use this to your advantage. If they refuse they have insulted to the scorpion clan, a deadly mistake. Gift giving is an important part of Rokugani culture. Appropraitely marking a gift as being a scorpion gift (i.e. a scorpion pattern on a kimono, or a scorpion motiff on a sword, etc.) is another useful way to sow distrust in ones enemies. |
Should we wait for 1 more or start monday. I can keep dropping etiquette lessons in here as part of a discussion thread, also if we do start monday I'll keep the sign up open for another week for late arrivals.
