ya know Wizards has done something like this a couple times now... but they treated it as a Job first and a show second.

Just something I'm throwing out there

I wonder if these people know that getting a job as a game tester is actually rather easy. Mostly because people think its a dream job but as was mentioned before its pretty horrible. You aren't playing the completed game but the buggy half done version. Not to mention if its an actual job (as oppose to when they bring in random people for things like gauging difficulty curves and focus groups) there is alot of paperwork. I knew a guy that did it. Imagine saving every like five minutes and keeping track of your exact character configuration at the time.

They have pretty high turn over.

My brother was a QA tester for years at Nintendo and Microsoft, you can't work your way up (well he was originally a worker on the Nintendo hotline but the internet killed that off right quick), not just because the hierarchy doesn't work that way in those companies, but also the fact that they only ever hired him for 9 months at a stretch so they wouldn't have to provide health benefits.

He finally took a short course on game design a couple of years ago and got a decent job at a small game studio actually working on some coding/design elements, which was sort of what he always wanted to do. He's much more interested and happy now than he ever was as a QA tester, seems like.

I'll admit, if he wasn't on it, I wouldn't have even opened Snake's link.

Though there is some entertainment value in everyone's forced performances regarding the supposed "celebrity" status of the game developer judges. "OH MAH GAWD IT'S SOME DUMPY MIDDLE-AGED GUY WITH THE PERSONALITY OF A LAMP POST THAT PRODUCED A GAME I PLAYED ONCE! HAVE MY BABIES!"

Just toe fuel the flams of the facts that Egoraptor is the only positive thign AT ALL so far... check the first episode, right at the start when they are all riding in the car. He has this "Everybody is faking anxiety, so i'll look bored as shit" face, i loved it.

Who the hell are all of those people and why are they with Egoraptor? I just watched the season premier of Top Shot (good show) so watching The Tester is like eating a fresh dog shit with bits of chocolate inside of it.

i actually had to do serious leg work to figure it out just who the hell that lady Judge is supposed to be... and then... wikipedia.

ooooooooooh... now i see.

Aerozord 02-15-2012 01:25 AM

ok she is more of a gamer then I'd expect, but she does sound more like "hot nerd" a fan, not really someone in the industry

Aldurin 02-15-2012 03:23 AM

Just watched both episodes (ish, I skipped parts that lacked egoraptor and overloaded in whiny morons) and now I feel the urge to become just as internet famous as egoraptor, just so I can issue a formal "fuck you" in response to the inevitable invitation to be on that show.
