If possible, try to get a vertical duo (so Duran+Angela, Kevin+Charlotte or Lise+Hawk)

Actually now that I think of it, you should name Kevin "Marx", after his wolf buddy Karl. <_<

And Hawk and Lise get my vote. Their stories were the most interesting. Like father killed and brother kidnaped in Lise's case.
That's more deeper than Duran's "I want to be the best." Duran's chacter had more than this, but it's the first thing you will notice.

Because "Marx" by itself is a reasonable name that doesn't necessarily carry any subtext in, say, a video game. But it matches up with "Karl" nicely.

Lenin or Stalin is just too obvious about it, and doesn't match up with "Karl" at all. The only real appeal behind it is the "lol Stalin" factor.

Everyone is out for revenge maybe not Angela, since she's out...For jealously or something. Duran is trying to avenge half of his kingdom's deaths because of the Crimson Wizard. It's not as personal as Hawk's best friend being mind controlled to kill Hawk and Hawk defending himself and the father of said best friend, the king of bandits, being mind controlled by a demon and then killed...Or Carlie's caretaker changing sides and leaving her...Or Kevin's dog turning into a rampaging wolf, forcing Kevin to kill it...Or Angela's mother wanting to sacrifice her to get more magic...Or Lise's dad being killed and her brother being kidnapped to be then sold into slavery and possibly sacrificed...Okay, fine, they're all equally tragic except for Carlie's.

Seriously, the motivations are pretty simple for everyone. Duran is not alone.

Anyway, I vote Kevin as main 'cause I like his story the best. Lise and.... the thief guy for support.

Angela (Pickles, Angelica:eek:) Have her be the main character :cool:

Kevin (Barks, Karl) :D
