I think he actually means Blue, since Red/Blue/Green was the original generation. Then they added Yellow and shit got real.

It's okay Nonie old pal. You're blue. Like that one good version of Pokemon.

So... Red wasn't good?

I want to say something mean about you young whippersnappers and your crappy, real life based Pokemans... but then I play Gen IV, and I'd be a huge hypocrite.

Red was actually better. But it was NonCon posting and not Synk.

Actually, the imbalance wasn't THAT bad. Besides, Blue had Caterpie as a common catch, which made it a LOT easier to beat Brock. Sure, you could technically get it in Red, but the find rate is so ridiculously low that a lot of people thought it just plain wasn't in there.

Personally, I preferred Blue.

Edit: This is taking note of the fact that when we got our Xmas presents of Red, Blue, Yellow, and Zelda: Link's Awakening, I got Zelda and Yellow. When borrowing Red or Blue, I found Blue to be the better of the inferior titles.

But... but Red... had Scyther... and Mankey... and Electabuzz...

Blue was my first, way back when...I still had the old grey Brick. I still got it somewhere...

I'll have to dig it out sometime.

Mankey is the only one I really miss of those, though. Sure, having a Scyther is pretty cool, but IIRC, it was in the Safari Zone, so good luck not spending days on end trying to catch it. Or if it was in the casino like in Yellow, prepare to face the slot machines. Great to have, but not absolutely necessary when there are other good mons that take less effort. Also, Pinsir has most of the same moves, anyway.

Electabuzz is actually pretty sucky. Very few moves and the only two worth a damn are Thunderpunch and Thunder, and the way Thunderpunch misses, well...

Edit: I take that back. Another one from Red I would have preferred was Growlithe, if only because I like its look better than Vulpix's. I really don't remember how their moves or power levels compared, though.

Edit Edit: Vulpix is apparently better in that it has Fire Spin.

Flarecobra 02-07-2010 09:17 PM

Ohhh yeah. Those kind of moves were SO abusable back then....I remember just continually wrapping up Lance's dragons....and they couldn't do anything.

To this day, I am convinced that wrap and Sand attack are the malicious machinations of Satan himself.

Unless I use them, then they are an unholy gift from Satan.

Either way, they're pure evil.

I don't think people are gonna have the brain capacity to enjoy Pokemon in after about 10 years, they'll have to make it a required course in school just so people will get the basic understanding of it.

And then we'll be in our rocking chairs, talking about the days when there were less than 1000 Pokemon and less than 40 types. We'll wonder if the next generation even remembers Pikachu anymore. Game Freak will be bigger than Microsoft by then and genetic engineering will result in actual Pokemon being created (PETA is already crazy enough as it is, think about what happens when you introduce 1000+ species of creatures who are capable of leveling cities) the environment will be thrown off and there will be a rigged vote on whether or not the Pokemon should replace the current creatures.

Our grandchildren's grandchildren will have Growlithes and Glameows as pets. Actually, those would be obsolete and the kids would have fluffy-flying-fire-steel-dark-dragon type things instead, that could be rented out as assassins if their allowances seemed too low.

I just realized that the world culture could be enslaved by the Pokemon creators if we give them 40 years to progress as much as they do now.
