I personally played the hell out of X4, X6 and the first three MMZ games and like those a lot. I don't like the original MM series because I'm terrible and they're too hard. And battle network is incredibly repetitive ugh. |
I like Mega Man 3 the best of the original games, though that's probably because it was the first one I played.
I've actually been trying to beat all of them on this Mega Man Anniversary disc I have. Currently on Mega Man 4. What was up with Mega Man 4 being hard as hell? Like this annoying Ring Man stage with the disappearing rainbow bridges, or like...all the other stages as well! Those games seemed easier back when. I'm probably getting old or something. Oh, but actually, Mega Man 1 is worse just because of those platforms in the Guts Man stage. Sheesh. What were they thinking when they came up with those freaking things? Argh. Anyway I'll just go with 2 and 3 being the best because they are eminently playable and classic and so forth. Oh, and Mega Man X, I mean, it's Mega Man X. It's totally XTREME and stuff. Plus it actually had an attempt at a plotline between Zero and Vile and Sigma and X and so on... |

You can really tell the first game was made in a time when the games themselves were the hardest enemies the player would fight. |
Guts Man's stage gives you trouble? Ice Man still makes me cry myself to sleep.

If Legend's dash had been like X's dash I would have loved it best, but X wins out.
Zero games are because X got tired of owning everyone. |
Oh god. My brother went and picked up one of those really new MMZ games that don't actually have zero in them.
Lets just say they tried to throw in a plot. This can only end in pain and tears. |
They bear little resemblance to either MMX or MMZ, since they star like, kids who find robot attachments that turn into robot suits resembling X or Zero. The suits MIGHT be sentient forms of X and Zero or something but other than that the plot is different.
I mean, the gameplay is probably pretty similar, of course, though I have yet to see one of those games get over like a 6 out of 10 or something...I think Capcom needs to rethink their Mega Man strategy and reboot the whole thing or something, especially since the games people are most excited about are quasi-sequels that play like games from twenty years ago. |

Whatever happened to straight-up Good Robots vs Evil Robots war? That's the way it should have been, dammit, and lord do I miss the style of Mega Man X's visual design. |
