Huh, I had assumed Locke was lying there because he finds it hard to talk about Rachel.THESE WOUNDS THEY WILL NOT HEAL

Meanwhile, re. the playworthiness of 6, it'll always be one of my favorite games, but I'll freely admit it's largely due to nostalgia. Gameplay-wise it's interesting in that you get to make permanent choices for your party: You may bias your characters' growth towards stats of your choice with various level up bonuses* (Protip: Speed rules), you can on occasion save a character or let them die, and you get to choose between certain one-of-a-kind items where you can't have them all. It may be most telling that in the final battle your party can consist of anywhere from three to fourteen people.

But other than that it's not remarkable. The story is far more interesting, because about 80% of it is written in your head. The sparse animations and dialogue leave vast blank spaces in the characters for you to fill in yourself. It's the bare bones of a story, I like to say. But unless you invest your own meat in it it's probably not going to give much.

The music is objectively the best part. Sample. I'd say if you're not pausing for at least 15 minutes any time you get a chance and do nothing but listen to the music, you're playing it wrong.

Oh yay, I may end up playing a great FF game (13 is not a good way to be introduced to the series, and the mobile version of FF1 was pretty meh).

1. Download FF3usME and Translhextion from Romhacking.net.
2. Open your rom in FF3usME. Open the Dialog Editor.
3. Click "Export Script."
4. Close the Dialog Editor.
5. Open the Monster Editor.
6. Select the "Big Battle Quotes" tab.
7. Click "Export Script." Exit FF3usME.
8. Navigate to the directory which the rom file is in.
9. Open the text documents "dialog_script" and "bigBattleCaption"
10. Click "Find/Replace."
11. Enter "Eidolon" in Find, and "Esper" in Replace. Click OK. Hit Control+S.
12. Enter "Eidolons" in Find, and "Espers" in Replace. Click OK. Hit Control+S.
13. Open FF3usME again. Open the Dialog Editor.
14. Click "Import Script." Select "dialog_script"
15. Click "OK."
16. Open the Monster Editor.
17. Select the "Big Battle Quotes" tab.
18. Click "Import Script." Select "bigBattleCaption."
19. Click "OK."
20. Click "Save."
21. Open Translhextion.
22. Open your rom file.
23. Hit Control+K and search for "Eidoln"
24. Figure out which characters are represented by which hex digits to spell "Espers" (this is for the skills menu), then replace the hex digits for "Eidoln" with "Espers." You may have to do this more than once, for both the white (active) and greyed-out (inactive) displays, and for the blue display to the right when you're actually looking at the Espers.
25. Hit Control+K and search for "Eidol." This is the battle menu, when you summon an Esper in battle.
26. Replace the hex digits you find with the hex digits for "Esper." You should be able to figure this out by process of elimination.
27. Click "Save."

Now you can tell me they're not "Eidolons."

I can't play it without falling asleep. It is physically impossible for me.

It was fun at first but it quickly died down after I realized that fighter, red mage, black mage and maybe white mage were the only worthwhile classes.

Kinda stopped after I was close to the class change part. I even tried doing a run where everyone but the red mage stays dead but I got to bored to do that too.

Say wha?!

Aldurin 09-02-2011 01:25 AM

The SNES I grew up with had only 4 decent games, Megaman X, Donkey Kong Country 1 and 2 and Super Mario All Stars.

Mostly that was because it belonged to my Grandmother since she ran a daycare thing.
