...Does anyone here happen to be familiar with the new PS Store?
...Because fuck my life, I can't figure out the new PS Store. EDIT: Quote:
...Good for me, though. |
Yeah, pretty much the only reasons to have the first game is if you really miss the original Colosseum mode (explaining would take a while, but I'll do so if you want), Inward Chaos extra story (lots of top-level enemies followed by the hardest Chaos fight in the game, replaced by the "Confessions of the Creator" extra story in Duodecim), or completely broken EX Mode system (rebalanced in Duodecim by dropping the strength of EX Force, and adding the Assist character system alongside it and basically making accessories that boost one hurt the other)
...I really should get around to selling my copy of the first game back to a store or on Amazon or something. There's really not enough in he firs game to make me want to keep playing it, although the ability to make indefinite EX Mode builds was kinda fun. edit: And yeah, the new story in Duodecim is a prequel mostly revolving around the new fighters added to the game (Most specifically, Lightning, Vaan, Tifa, Kain, Yuna, Laguna. Prishe and Gilgamesh show up... elsewhere). It sort of leads into the first game's story afterward. There are also small playable snippets in the extra "Reports" that are essentially anecdotal scenes that take place at various points in the story. |
Goddamn it, the new PSN store doesn't appear to keep track of content you've actually already purchased like the old one did.
...You'd think it's such an inconsequential thing, but I've spent the last couple years buying tons of downloadable content and I've never bothered to write down what I've purchased in an independent record because PSN seemed to keep track for me. Sorry, I'm just going to rant and rave over this issue because it infuriates me and I am infuriated. |
I have not updated (nor touched) my PS3 and quite a while. And now I'm not sure I want to.
Least not till I learn more about the "changes" made to PSN. |
I'll suggest Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky, Tactics Ogre and BlazBlue Continuum Shift 2, although Chrono Phantasma may be coming out soon. suggest against Monster Hunter: Freedom Unite because it's basically stupid hitboxes the game and suggest Lumines 1 or 2, because they're fucking great. Also, I heard nothing but good things about Ragnarok Odyssey, you might want to give that a try.

Yeah the new PSN store sucks syphilitic horse cock. It's style over substance to such a degree Apple would blush.

Snake, you may want to ignore this and just not look into 3rd Birthday, it will likely just depress you. Seriously don't look it up, just try and forget it exists. If you thought P4G's extra content was bad....... |
Is it still possible to get the Aya Brea costume for Lightning in Duodecim?
|

There is a Lightning costume for Aya as well from Duodecim. I actually have an unused card for the costume (I also have the extra costume for Cecil from FF4 Complete Collection) somewhere in my drawer of PSP games. I can dig it out if anyone REALLY wants it. |
Making violence inflicted on a woman "sexy" isn't just a bit sexist.
It is incredibly sexist. Sexualizing anti-woman violence is something we've seen a few times lately in games. Promotional stuff for the new Hitman and the new Lara Croft are the most standout examples. It's not okay and it's very sexist from a number of angles. This is exacerbated by the fact that the specific game we're discussing takes a strong woman character and completely removes those elements of her character. Whatever excuse exists in-game doesn't change that fact. 3rd Birthday is a game that sexualizes anti-woman violence while taking what was once a strong woman and making her substantially less so. I think any hate against this game is completely justified and I'd ask you to not trivialize the sexism of that game. |
I agree 100%, except I feel the game doesn't really do that.
1. Aya bleeds and gets covered in dirt when she takes battle damage. It isn't really that sexy. 2 which is understandable because she is in the middle of warzones. 3. The game penalizes you for having damaged clothes. Also, yes the story does excuse Aya acting like an entirely different heroine. The bottom line is that you should play the game yourself, as its a decently fun TPS. It doesn't require having played the first two games, but it does greatly enhance understanding of the characters from those games. I was just casually pointing out some of the common complaints I have heard from people who haven't actually played the game. I didn't expect to get jumped on and beaten with a soapbox about sexism in a thread where we are suggesting video games. |
