The other two battle modifiers are 'Your party was caught by surprise,' which means they get to kill US first, and then there's the normal battle modifier of nothing special. It might be speed-based or luck-based, or it could just be totally random. I have no clue.)

I have been here for three years now. I have to keep reminding myself that although everyone around here calls me Fred, I am Thadius. It's not as easy as you may think.

I've been attempting to learn the magic of this land, 'Psynergy,' as they call it, but all I can do is give myself a migraine. I can't even use Move, but Beef said he'd try to learn that as well.

I do seem to have a green thumb, though. The coffee beans and weed that I salvaged as a kid have grown. I'm considering running my own coffee shop out of my home, along with selling weed on the black market. Hey, gotta make the money somehow.

The local scholar, Kraden, has been teaching me, Beef, and OMNOM the basics of Alchemy, Psynergy, the Elements...it's pretty interesting stuff, but I can't actually USE it. I just hope that one day I'll find a way to get back home.

Kraden's asked the three of us to go with him on a little trip up Mt. Aleph. Personally, I want nothing to do with the place, since it housed a boulder that killed 'Dad,' and OMNOM feels the same, I'm sure. However, Kraden has said that this trip could help him finish his lessons with us, and frankly, if I have to endure one more day of his voice, I'll tear my ears off. So tomorrow we scale the mountain.
