That's even more generic though.....
Also less interesting and with less depth to explore.

I've noticed the ss tag neutralizes the color tag, and if you work around that (put color inside ss) the color tag defeats the ss tag. It seems to me that it should be possible for whatever script that swaps between grey and white text should be able to swap between grey and (arbitrary text color) with just a little extra work.

Possibly less work, even. Lemme try something real quick.

EDIT: Yup!

Well, actually, the gov'ment is already after anyone who might have been exposed to the outside world and is kicking them all out, which is where the game begins, so that's really not the case.

The case is really more that you have people who are a direct threat to the established order, in that Lightning seems to be established as a problem from the beginning of the game on. I mean, she used to be part of their military, and it seems she was pretty high up given Jihl was apparently her commanding officer, and she seems pretty high on the food chain. On top of the training that involves, she has her gravity thing, which she's more than happy to use for high-flying acrobatics.

The fact they gain the power to summon Eidolons and use magic really doesn't help matters much, because it makes them even more of a threat and also comes with the baggage that they have to complete a given task before they die or suffer an eternity as a bloodthirsty monster, which only really appeals to a certain demographic. Given the assumption they aren't part of said demographic, it's pretty safe to assume you have a handful of very powerful and desperate people running around whose interests are in direct conflict with yours.

A good start, but...

It's still possible to ruin your own spoiler tags.
Check out what happens when a color tag ends in the middle of ss.

Also, if you quote someone's ss tag, the background turns black when you click it, instead of matching the dark-grey quote background.

As far as that goes I feel it's easier to just expect people to not go out of their way to be dumb. And if they do then I get to stomp around and holler about it.

Question: What the hell is up with Final Fantasy and God-like beings, lately? Seriously, there's FFX with Yu Yevon, FFXII with the Occuria and now FFXIII with the fal'Cie.

I wouldn't call Yu Yevon a GOD so much as I'd call him a PARASITE.

Also, I need my Final Fantasy fix. GET HERE ALREADY, THIRTEEN!

Lately? JENOVA? A being that falls from the skies and corrupts everything it touches into slaves of itself is a pretty good scifi equivalent of a devil/cynical idea of a god. Hell she even has a prophet in Hojo. Also the name is a pretty big give away. Then there's Kefka, the Warring Triad Goddesses and Exdeath. And let's not forget Tactics. It's really not lately, it's been standard operating procedure for a while and I don't really mind.

As for why? Religious themes make easy writing, and the imagery is so powerful and known to so many people it's extremely effective at conveying information about characters or cultures. And whether you're ripping from a real religion or mythology or you're making up deities and religions yourself, gods and churches are just a great source of conflict and plot.

Replace Final Fantasy with JRPGs, and replace lately with always.

Seriously. I'll even throw in some Persona cases...

Persona PSP: God Kandori (With a cameo from Nyarlathotep)
Persona 3: Nyx
Persona 4: Izanami
