EDIT I am telling you as the person with THE MOST REP ON THE FORUM EVARZ (OR DID PREVIOUSLY IF ANYONE INDEED HAS SURPASSED MY NUMBER OF REP POINTS) that rep is dumb and it is a dumb thing to care about but inasmuch as you can't help wanting all those stupid gems basically what you have to do is post things that OTHER PEOPLE FIND TO BE

1. funny
2. clever
3. insightful
4. interesting
5. impressive
6. creative
7. endearing

More or less all of these can be done in a way that is either nice or jerky (endearing is tricky but also possible!) and the key point is that it is what OTHER PEOPLE find to have the qualities above so like there is a certain amount involved of playing to your audience and keeping in mind, not just what you will enjoy, but what other people will enjoy in your forum postings (NOTE - this thread is actually good as an attempt at doing this I feel you just didn't work out the delivery quite right).

And also it pays to mix and match the above factors! Like I'm pretty sure CJ gets loads of rep whenever she does a funny drawing, which covers both creativity and humor! I probably got the most rep I ever got from that time I baked those deadpool cookies for Vridis's avatar, which was plainly humorous, creative, and endearing.

And remember that after you've done all of that - none of it means shit because things you think are brilliantly witty will get jack but then like some random offhand thing you said will get four reppings. Which brings us back to rep being KIND OF DUMB and not really a thing to be worried about at all.

Just to say, I wasn't really makin' this for rep, just the reason in original post: everyone wanted to beat up on someone after the "sigh" thread, I thought it just as well that someone should be me. Mostly 'cause people do it anyway, and more often than not, someone gets banned by... those kinds of threads.

That "something fun that everyone can enjoy" quote was simply because thats what I wanted the thread to be; where the quote came from wasn't a factor in choosing it.

Seriously, I wasn't even talking about you or anyone specifically.
