Actually:

1: Renny has two pokemons with Serene Grace. Not "a lot". Even with Divided Guiding Support, it doesn't add up to anything more than if he was to send out both Togekiss and Shaymin. The most he could actually flinch is 4 and that's at the cost of 50 rage, which is less than what Pierce does with Chizuru's tech for close to the same cost.

2: A different pokemon has to forfeit an action with Guiding Support. Also, spending rage to make up for those actions will be costly. Rage will be a premium later on given other more useful abilities that get unlocked. So that means limiting the number of actions he can do to ensure that the one he does do actually works.

3: Flinch will require higher speed later on as per normal rules in order for it to work, so it won't be as easy to inflict as before.

4: OHKO moves are very powerful yes. Hence why for the movesets I've been working on, only a very very select few have any. Also, I figured that Jeanette is normally not available to choose in a manner similar to Rayleen. (She's not officially a PATCA agent and she is very busy with her own work)

On the plus side, I finished the movesets (although I do want to second-check it when I get the chance). Only need to give them items and then I can shove the results to AB and you guys.
I have also created stats of pokebrids and respective slayers (which is easy enough as they generally have uniform stats) for the purpose of AB's secondary data and so on.

Also been discussing rules with AB, and some of them are being slightly altered updated (Stuff like abilities that have no purpose on pokemons that don't have other useful abilties). Once again, I'll get it all compiled asap.

The haunting thing gave me a thought. Could Charlotte use Phantomere to cheat in a game of poker?

Menarker 05-25-2011 10:00 AM

>_> Probably yes. But many of the psychics could also cheat via mind-reading. Gambling Institutions probably gone broke trying to prevent the unlawful use of otherworldly abilities for worldly gains. ^^:

Game corner still exists, but I guess slots and the like are a different category of chance. Charlotte probably doesn't care for slots, as there isn't anyone to beat.

Menarker 05-25-2011 10:15 AM

Does Charlotte has a pathological need for a victim every time she goes and does something?

Except that AB imposed the restriction that Pierce's tech with Chizuru can't be used all that often.

Further, given how long battles last, I'm sure you could use someone like Impact as a Rage Rocket whore.

You WILL get Shock Trooper Configuration later on. That means 10 more Rage all the time.

Shaymin has good speed in either form, and Togekiss is no slouch. Not so much of an issue as one might think.

Eh, I dunno about that. I was kind of under the impression that she'd be joining permanently. Should probably ask AB, though.

Not getting Shock Trooper until 6 levels from now.

A standard slayer or average speed attacker getting a single +1 stage boost for speed can drastically pump speed up a good 50 points, making speed changes considerable when it comes to Flinching success rate.
Yes, Shaymin and Togekiss are in a good position to use flinch moves, but the foundation is shaky.

Stop riding me about using Impact for Rage Rockets! We're near the end of the mission and we still got lots of items left. The use of one such item to enable a paradigm shift which practically doubles the effectiveness of a character where a fast rush is called for is a sensible use of them. I'm not relying on Rage Rocket's like a crutch.

Whats the term for a trainer who is also a snagger? Or is there no such class combination?

edit: Mattias has just gained +3 points with Charlotte.

Astral Harmony 05-25-2011 03:07 PM

I call them Pokemon Rogues...at least for now, I do.

The main arguement against flinch is that in the future, those who rely on it will need to modify their tactics to suit various foes. Mechs don't flinch, not even when fractured. Bosses usually don't. And a good number of Slayer type enemies will have their own resistances, especially if they're elite soldiers.

I do have to admit the buddy cop Charlotte and Matthias would be extremely amusing.
