Still badass to this day...

6, on the other hand, is totally the best game ever but I have to say that the GBA port was the most I could handle insofar as changes to the original English translation go. The Woolseyisms had a certain charm that worked well for a non-Japanese audience, and I feel that the thing the GBA port did right was fixing the awkward changes made to the original SNES version for censorship. Putting the dirty jokes back in made characters like Edgar and Cyan actually click.

See? I used to agree, then Ryong came up in a thread either on here or ClanBob back in the day and pointed out every flaw with FF6 that made me go :(

What was it... The magic could be used by everyone, there was little to differentiate the people, etc. etc.

I unno, it's left me with a bad complex. It's either this or FF7 that seems to have the most of a popularity contest. Personally, having not played FF5, 4, 2, or 1 before hand, I'm still lenient on FF6 for Sabin suplexing a train.

Every Final Fantasy has flaws. Final Fantasy has never been super-fantastic-amazing. VIII's just especially bluh.

These are things that really only become an issue through way more grinding than is required to beat the game, though. Like, you can take Sabin, equip him with espers that boost the magic power stat when you level up and teach him Ultima and then through incredibly tedious and repetitive battling have him be able to cast Ultima with the same effectiveness as Relm, and then do that with every other character, and also go and grind Brachiosaurs endlessly to get 12 economizers so they can all cast pretty much endlessly, or you could just go to Duncan's house, watch a cut scene, and have him learn Bum Rush and still do enough damage along with everyone else's special class abilities to have no problem powering your way through Kefka.

Only time I ever bother with non-mages using magic is to heal between fights.

I've found that this is only true on the internet. As far as the general public is concerned, FF started with 7.

I've done playthroughs where I left him on the Veldt. Nothing of value was lost.

If I hear those drums one more time, I might spontaneously vomit on whoever is next to me.

I'd once again like to remind everyone that this was a breeze to do with LordJ's great editor, and the fine romhackers at Romhacking.net and elsewhere all wrote patches that went into this.

This coming from a guy named Spooniest...
Only because I actually am a singer and guitarist in real life, and this all seems extremely ridiculous to me. I don't even know why I'm doing it...sentimentality and nothing else. Hence, "Spooniest."

Enjoy!

The only FF6 hack I want will rename Kefka "Joker" and Edward as "Batman" and make Edward the main character.

Now don't get that "who is the main character" shit started. ;)

Who is even this Edward? Is it some alternate translation of Edgar cause if so I've missed it. But if you want to name Terra and Celes Batman and Robin that'd work I think, they're pretty much Kefka's opposite numbers.

I have played this game (not for very long, mind you) with all the characters named BALLS, all caps. It spits out lines like

Quote:

ARVIS: Bannon!! King BALLS!!
...and BALLS!!
...Which have kept me sane for a long time. :D
